So you just got engaged, now what?

First of all, congratulations. Right now everything feels exciting and slightly chaotic. I’ve seen it a hundred times, and it’s beautiful every time.

Here’s the one thing I want you to hear before the planning noise gets loud: the most important first step, book your photographer before almost anything else.

Your caterer will work around a lot. Your florist can adjust. But the photographer you actually want has one calendar, one date, and it’s yours or someone else’s.

You don’t need a full vision yet. You just need to know what feeling you want and find the photographer who creates it.

Do you love the photos that make you feel like you were there—the hugs, happy tears, weird laughs, and all the in-between stuff?

Or are you more drawn to the beautifully composed, editorial moments?

Personally, I’ll always want a mix. The photos can be beautiful and feel like you.

Before → After.

The moment already had everything—the vows, the tears, the anticipation, the love.

Editing is just the last little piece of telling that story.

A little warmth, a little depth, keeping skin tones true, and making sure the emotion stays at the center.

I don’t want to change what was there. I just want the final image to feel the way the moment felt.

This is where intention matters.

A few favorites from a day that had a little bit of everything I love to photograph.

Not because every image is perfectly posed or polished, but because the whole day is there: the people, the laughter, the little in-between moments, the beautiful details, and all the personality that made this wedding theirs.

I love the photos where someone is fixing a tie, a grandmother is helping with a dress, friends are laughing over dinner, everyone is cheering, and the couple is completely caught up in the people around them.

Those are the images I want to make space for.

The pretty portraits will always matter, but I never want your wedding gallery to just feel like a checklist of things you had to stop and recreate. I want you to have the photos that bring you right back to how it felt to have everyone you love in one place.

This day at Of the Land was full of that kind of magic. 🤍

I’ll let my couples say it better than I ever could 🤍

I care a lot about how your photos turn out, obviously—but I care just as much about how you feel while I’m taking them.

Comfortable. Taken care of. Like you can actually relax and enjoy your day instead of worrying about what to do in front of the camera.

That experience matters to me just as much as the photos do.

This wedding will always stay with me.

Not because of the details — but because every part of the day reflected the people who helped shape them into who they are.

From the groom’s mother being their florist, to the bride’s parents asking every person who played a role in her upbringing to stand during their reception speech… the entire day felt rooted in gratitude, legacy, and deep love. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

This is why I do this work.
Not just to take photos… but to tell stories that actually matter.

Not because these are the most polished images, but because they preserve something real.

The emotion.
