Rain on your wedding day sounds like a nightmare, but it doesn't have to be.

A lot of the peace of mind on your wedding day comes down to planning ahead of time. That means knowing the indoor backup space just as well as the outdoor one, having a lighting plan for both, and walking every option before your day even gets here.

Cloudy skies get a bad reputation too, but they actually create some of the softest, most flattering light there is. So even if it's not sunny and golden, your photos are still going to look beautiful.

Some of my favorite galleries have come from days that didn't go exactly as planned. A little rain, dramatic clouds, all of it adds emotion and story that a perfectly sunny day sometimes doesn't.

Weather worries shouldn't take up space in your head on your wedding day. That's what I'm there for.

2027 is already on my mind, and I can't stop thinking about the weddings I get to be part of next year.

There's something about this job I don't think I'll ever get used to. Getting to witness two people who love each other promise forever. Watching family and friends who've known them for years tear up. Catching all the little moments that happen so fast most people miss them completely. It's a privilege every time, and I take that seriously.

I'm already starting to book 2027 dates, and they're going quicker than I expected. If your wedding is somewhere on next year's calendar and you're thinking about who you want capturing it, I'd love to hear about your day and what you're picturing.

If someone told you your wedding photos couldn't look like this in the middle of the day, I’m here to prove otherwise.

A lot of what goes into a shot like this happens before we even start taking photos! When you share your vision with me, the vibe you're picturing, I use knowing the Roanoke area well to help find locations that actually fit that vibe. Not just pretty spots, but the right spots for you.

For new locations, I show up early to walk around and figure out the best spots for lighting and all the little details that make a photo feel special, as well as do research on the location beforehand. That prep is a big part of getting you photos you're going to love.

For this couple, they already had a few exact locations in mind. This made things super easy, but I still showed up early so I could scope out the best spots once we got there. And since I'd spent time on this campus before for a past session, I already had a good feel for how it photographs and knew exactly where to take them.

That's the kind of care and planning that goes into every session, so on your day, you can just relax and enjoy it!
