This week’s Ruff Canine Club Featured Dog is George!

“George is a pretty boy and he knows it! He loves soaking up attention from his daycare, people at the dog park, and random strangers on the street. Despite what you might think from his good looks, he loves diving headfirst into any available puddle… the muddier the better! At the park, if the pool isn’t free, he’ll happily go swimming in the water dishes instead. He’s an athletic dog who competes in corgi races for fun and loves chasing around his friends and playing fetch. At home, he follows me around the house and sometimes allows cuddles. He’s always down for a good power nap so he can get back to business!”

What is George’s favorite part of Ruff Canine Club?
George loves playing fetch, soaking in the pool, and running around with all his friends! But his absolute favorite things to do are to splash in the water bowls and to sit on chairs to get extra pets.

This is Iris. She has such unique coloring and is definitely a pretty girl! The weather this summer has been so weird with all of the rain and heat. But, I’m so glad after a couple of reschedules that I got to photograph her! And we had perfect weather for the session.

This week’s Ruff Canine Club Featured Dog is Friday!

“My fiancé and I adopted Friday as an 8 week old puppy from Beagles and Bentley. We got her when I was finishing my PhD as a way for me to get through the end of my program and help my depression. She’s completely brilliant and a wonderful emotional support dog, she helped me through the hardest year I had in my program and the death of my grandfather. She’s a Velcro puppy who loves to learn, my fiancé and I have taught her over 30 commands since we’ve adopted her. My fiancé was laid off earlier this year, and having her and teaching her commands gave him fulfillment during his job search. She learned in less than a day how to “clean up” her toys and weave between your legs. She also learned to swim this year and she loves to “save us” in the pool, she nominated herself as the official lifeguard. She’s been the absolute love of our lives.”

What is Friday’s favorite part of Ruff Canine Club?
We love going there because it feels like such a welcoming and safe dog park. The staff are amazing, especially Sam and Julia!

When I work with brands, I like to say that I am more than just a photographer. I consider myself as more of a Content Partner and Brand Storyteller. I work closely with brands to plan and execute imagery and video that align with their goals, from creative direction and marketing strategy to location scouting, model selection, and final editing.

Hotel Chaco is a luxury boutique hotel in Albuquerque’s Historic Old Town and Sawmill District, designed to offer guests an elevated and culturally immersive experience rooted in the art, architecture, and heritage of the American Southwest.

When working with them, they wanted not only to highlight their pet friendly amenity, but also to emphasis architecture, textures, and the intentional spaces within the hotel.

Some of my favorite projects have been working with pet friendly travel brands. I love helping brands I love build trust and resonate with their pet loving audiences. Because these people are my people!

One of my favorite parts about my job is seeing the final pieces come together in my client's homes. Doing a photo session and seeing the images on a screen is one thing. Seeing the images come to life on my client's walls is a completely different experience. That's why I work directly with such amazing print labs and custom framers. That's also why the sessions I offer are a full service, boutique style experience. When you work with me, you get me from start to finish, helping with every step along the way. From planning the perfect location, date, outfits etc. all the way through to helping select the perfect finish and display options for your most precious images.

One thing you should know about pet photographers...

Have you discovered the magic of working with a photographer who knows how to work well with animals?

You’ve likely already had some kind of photography experience (whether that be school photos, wedding photos, branding photos, family photos etc.)

But there’s a little something you need to know when you want to include animals in your photo sessions.

It's important to find a photographer who has experience working with animals! It makes all the difference between animals looking their best, relaxed and happy in the photos. (vs. looking away, sad or stressed out and nobody wants that.)

This is my number one tip that I tell to everyone no matter what kind of photography session they are looking to do. If the session has an animal in it, make sure you find a photographer who has experience working with animals.

This week’s Ruff Canine Club Featured Dog is Buddy!

“Buddy is exactly what his name entails, he is my buddy. I got him when I was at my last semester of college and was unsure what the future held for me. Starting a new chapter of your life and especially becoming an adult is a really scary task, but I did it and buddy was by my side 24-7 (even when I went to the bathroom). He makes me feel safe, even from the scary mailman that comes everyday, he comforts me, he makes me laugh, and he truly is my pride and joy. Buddy is a special dog, one who watches Bravo, loves everyone, especially loves water, and the most gentle soul. I don’t know what i would do about buddy, he gave me the confidence to start a new journey and I don’t think I could ever repay him for that. Although, I think he would take a pupcup and ice cream.”

What is Buddy’s favorite part of Ruff Canine Club?
He LOVES water. Not just when the pools are out in the summer, but he will find water everywhere he goes. He splashes every water bowl in the park, and I am embarrassed that he does that because then the workers have to keep refilling it, and the other dogs don’t have water to drink. It’s funny how my perspective of this is annoyed, but I see other people watching him, laughing and getting joy from it. I think that just goes to show how Buddy is, he will make other people laugh and happy just by being himself and doing what he loves. I aspire to be like buddy, to not care what people think, but to bring joy and happiness to people around and maybe make someone’s day.
