Good morning! The Black-bellied Plover, another summer visitor caught running in the surf. They are North America's largest plover. Unlike typical shorebirds that probe deeply into the mud, Black-bellied Plovers run a few feet, stop, scan for prey using their large eyes (which also help with night foraging), and run again to nab insects or mollusks. Have a great one!
