Some of the most breathtaking skies
are born where sunlight and storm clouds meet;
perhaps the same is true of us—
beauty is not found in lives untouched by hardship,
but in the light that continues to shine through it.

This Saturday & Sunday don’t miss the MidAtlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival happening at the The Lewes Historical Society’s campus at 110 Shipcarpenter Street in downtown Lewes (if you’re not familiar, just go all the way to the end of 2nd Street and you’ll run right into it) from 9 AM to 4 PM. This is my favorite show every year, not just as a vendor but also as a shopper. The event features over 75 sea glass and coastal artists, sea glass history and identification experts, education, lectures, the largest sea glass exhibit in the area, live music, food, and more!

These are just a sample of the images you can find in my tent this weekend. I will be running a sale on all of my matted prints (buy two get one free). I will have close to 100 frames on hand in a variety of sizes, some of our most popular vibrant metal prints in addition to one of our framed canvases along with some of my photography/poetry books and some of my acrylic blocks.

Hope to see you there and if you’re in Rehoboth this weekend, Art off the Avenue is open Friday 12-4pm and Saturday 11-3pm (closed Sunday).

I kept remembering.

The mind can be a merciless thing,
returning to old wounds
long after they have stopped bleeding,
turning them over in its hands
as though pain becomes easier to understand
if we examine it often enough.

But not every sorrow is meant
to be carried forever.
Not every tragedy deserves
a permanent place upon our backs.

There comes a time
when we must lay them down,
one by one,
like stones at our feet,
and trust the tide
to smooth their sharp edges.

The past does not disappear.
It becomes part of the shoreline,
something we can look upon
without needing to carry.

And perhaps healing is not forgetting,
but learning that our hands
were never meant to hold
every grief we have ever known.

The ocean does not forget its storms;
they leave their mark in its depths,
just as life’s harder seasons
leave their mark in us.

Yet the waves continue their journey,
carrying what came before
without becoming trapped by it.

Perhaps healing is not the absence of scars,
but learning how to carry them toward tomorrow.

For no matter how fierce the weather has been,
the ocean remains -
waiting for another dawn,
another tide,
another beginning.

Wild places have a way of returning us to ourselves.
The wind doesn’t care who we have been,
the ocean doesn’t ask what we carry,
and the horses move through the dunes
as they always have—
reminding us that freedom was never something we had to find,
only something we had to remember.

All of these images came up from a single day trip down to Assateague. I haven’t been to the island in quite some time, and I’m going to definitely make some time to do that soon! It’s by far one of my favorite places 💙

The shop is open Friday from 12 PM to 4 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM. You can find Art off the Avenue at 33 Baltimore Ave. unit D/E, just inside the courtyard at the Shops of Baltimore Commons, in downtown Rehoboth.
