A great headshot starts long before you step in front of the camera. In fact, the prep before is what turns a good shoot into an amazing shoot.

Over the years, I've noticed a few common mistakes that can make photo day more stressful than it needs to be: last-minute haircut disasters, outfit panic and missing packages, trying a new skincare treatment the week before (please don't!), and showing up running on three hours of sleep. The good news? They're all easy to avoid.

Some photo shoots require a little coaching. Some require alottttt of couching. This was not one of those. In fact, the biggest challenge during my session with was getting everyone to stop laughing (myself included) long enough to take the photos.

Led by Annette Holt and Davis Holt (mother and son!), this team has built an incredible reputation for helping local buyers and sellers navigate the crazy Raleigh market with confidence - and after spending time with them, it's easy to see why. They are genuinely so great to be around.

The laughter may have slowed us down a little, but it made for a pretty great afternoon in this beautiful home in Apex. it was an absolute pleasure!

As parents, we try to do the best we can to raise our kids up right. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, they choose your rival college. And revel in it. BUT, when they happen to be extremely smart and hardworking (*ahem* valedictorian *ahem*), you find a way to move past the hurt ... after we take a few photos to commemorate that family moment (scroll to the end!).

All jokes aside, he is destined for great things at University of Michigan. Congratulations, .w_07 , and good luck surviving family football season!

It's June! Graduation is around the corner, so it's time to get some guys on the feed.

The last time I saw he was *2* years old (I swear it was only a few years ago), and now he’s heading off to UNCW in the fall. Since golf is such a big part of his life, we took his senior portraits out on the course at Bentwinds Golf and Country Club, Inc.. Between the perfect weather, the beautiful scenery, and being chauffeured around in a golf cart, it was a pretty great way to spend an evening.

Congratulations, Kenan! I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you.

It was such an honor to photograph Dr. Kate Meurs, dean of the ncstatevetmed (and the first woman to hold that role!). She’s a veterinarian, researcher, and academic leader known for her work in veterinary cardiology and genetics. These portraits were for a prestigious award from the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association and will be featured in an upcoming publication celebrating her incredible accomplishments.

With a schedule as busy as hers, I especially appreciated how gracious, warm, and genuinely lovely she was to work with. It’s always inspiring to meet people making such a meaningful impact, and do so with kindness and grace.

New Executive Headshots for the leadership team at LabConnect.

With a new CEO joining the company, the team gathered at their RTP office for updated executive portraits. We created a clean, consistent look with a full on-location setup, making the process easy and efficient around scheduled meetings.

We created a custom backdrop following their brand guide colors, helping the final images feel seamless across their website and marketing materials.

Another gorgeous Class of 2026 senior! Meet ; we braved poison ivy, climbed fences, and dodged cow pies - but it worth it.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Julia before when we created her actor headshots in the studio, so I already knew she’d be amazing in front of the camera. This time, we leaned into more movement, personality, and playful posing - and she absolutely nailed it. The more you can let go, trust the process, and have fun during your session, the more natural and memorable your senior portraits become. And these feel so *her*.

She’s headed to the University of Michigan this fall, and something tells me this is just the beginning for her. Remember me when you’re famous, Julia!

| Holly Springs High School, Class of 2026

I always love when seniors bring pieces of their personality and passions to their session. Years from now, those details will be so meaningful - a little snapshot into who they are at this very moment. Eliza brought along her pointe shoes, and watching her dance through the gardens made the entire session feel so special (she even had an audience by the end!).

These are the moments I love documenting most: not just what someone looked like during this season of life, but who they truly were. So excited for everything ahead for her as she heads to UNC this fall. The future is bright for this beautiful and talented girl ❤️
