Cat & Wyn’s wedding at The Carolina Inn had that rare feeling of being both elegant and completely relaxed at the same time. No fuss, no performance — just a genuinely lovely group of people having a beautiful day together.

The atmosphere of the day — along with the timeless feel of The Carolina Inn itself — made black & white feel especially right here. Quiet little in-between moments while getting ready, emotional glances during the ceremony, that wonderfully dramatic veil catching the light perfectly, and a first dance beneath chandeliers that felt straight out of an old film.

And, as ever, the Carolina Inn proved ridiculously photogenic at every turn.

Daniel at Harmony Weddings & Events, along with the entire vendor team, created such a calm and thoughtful atmosphere throughout the day. One of those weddings where everyone was simply brilliant at what they do and everything flowed beautifully from beginning to end.

A few early favourites from a really lovely day with these two 🤍🖤

Cameron asked Emily to marry him this morning on the iconic red bridge at Duke Gardens… and thankfully for all involved, she said yes!!! Very strong start to the day.

Cameron and I actually came out one evening last week to scope out the spot and talk through the best way to pull this off photographically without giving the game away. Always slightly nerve-wracking when you’re hiding in the bushes waiting for someone to walk onto a bridge pretending this is all completely normal behaviour.

After the proposal, we wandered through the gardens for a relaxed portrait session amongst the summer greens, bamboo, and beautifully moody overcast light. The conditions honestly could not have suited the mood better — soft light, rich greens, cinematic shadows, and a chance to mix some timeless black & white frames in with the colour work. The whole morning had this wonderfully atmospheric feel to it that suited the gardens perfectly.

Huge congratulations again to you both! Such a fun shoot and an absolute joy to photograph.

Keiko & Ryan absolutely brought it on their wedding day a couple of weekends back. Elegant, emotional, wildly stylish… and then their little guy casually stole the ceremony for about five minutes like a tiny chaotic best man.

There’s something I love about weddings that feel beautifully designed but still deeply human underneath it all. This one had both in spades. A stunning day at Historic Wakefield Barn with a crack team of friendors who made the whole thing ridiculously fun to photograph. More to come soon. ✨

A castle, constantly changing light, rain to start the session, harsh sun later on, and a quinceañera shoot that ended up going in all sorts of creative directions as the afternoon unfolded.

I’ve just shared a new blog post from Gianna’s session at Castle McCulloch talking a bit about how the images came together, working with different types of light throughout the day, and why I think photography is often more about adapting to conditions than forcing one particular style onto everything.

A few family photos in there too, along with some thoughts on the shoot itself and how it all evolved once we got started.

Full post and the picks of the pics here:

A few frames from Gianna’s recent quinceañera session at . Such a fun afternoon with Gianna and her family, who absolutely showed up ready for the camera. Make sure you scroll through to the end for the full family portraits… and let me know if you have a favourite.

I always enjoy quinceañera sessions. A bit like bridal or senior portraits, we start with some of the timeless classics, then loosen things up and go a little off-road creatively once everyone settles in. That mix of elegance, personality and fun always makes for something special. ✨

Bernice turned 40 and chose to mark it with something a little more meaningful than a big party—a quiet, thoughtful portrait session at Duke Gardens and Duke Chapel.

We kept things simple. Soft light, a gentle wander through the gardens, and then a shift in mood beneath the arches of the chapel. Nothing overdone—just a chance to pause and capture this moment as it is.

There’s something to be said for taking a bit of time for yourself, especially at a milestone like this. A small investment in remembering who you are, right now.
