I know I never post my creative conceptual work on here, but, I remembered the root of why I even do weddings; to create imagery that feels against the grain & unique. Unique to the person, the place, the story happening that can only be translated through visual arts.

My camera is just a tool. Everything I’ve ever posted that you’ve seen on here was first and foremost a MOMENT and a relationship that existed. That is where I begin my work.

This is a reminder to all of you out there (especially those whom are maybe new to my page): you’re not here to follow a script or formula in life, you’re here to be present, to create, to experiment & take risks & say f**k all normy bu****it! Be weird, be misunderstood, be unashamed in front of my camera. Be you.

the feminine heart…
unveiling
captivating
timeless beauty

I’ve always felt especially drawn to honor these portraits. Which is why there’s always a solid space in your timeline dedicated to doing these without haste, and somewhere private, away from everyone & everything else.

Wedding days can be overwhelming, whether there are 200 people around or just a handful of family. I’ve found that some of my most intentional work happens when I get to slow down and be one-on-one with them.

And don’t get me wrong. I love yapping it up and having an outrageously fun time with everyone during group portraits and whatnot. But bridal portraits are just different to me. they go slower. softer. are more femininely poetic. I think girls also just generally thrive in 1 on 1. And I think that photographing brides well requires that 1 in 1 trust, attention, and space to actually see her.
And in these spaces—is where art is truly made.

Hiiii I’m not sure if you’ve booked your run-through-the-fields / get-lost-in-the-woods / feel-like-you’re-in-a-movie engagement session yet.

(if you haven’t, this is your sign)

Because respectfully, I’m not going to take you somewhere pretty just to stand you in front of it (—although, God bless the strangers who gave me permission to shoot on their incredibly breathtaking property *earlier this day*)…..

I want you RUNNING until your hair is a mess.

Wandering somewhere green and mossy and smells like earth that you’ve never been.

Taking your shoes off because uhhhh hellloooo I’m an earth sign so I’m going to tell you get a little grounded with me in bare feet too 😂

And of course it wouldn’t hurt to laugh so hard you forget you booked an engagement session and not a break from this (kind of maybe a little overwhelming??) world now that seems to keep telling us to do this quicker, get more done, merge your entire life with f**king AI or some bs (idk man the news is terrifying nowadays lmao)

So yeah while you’re busy actually experiencing it, I’m thinking about the light, the landscape, the weird little angles, the movement & personalities & energy of you two—and how I can turn all of it into something that feels more like a memory from your own movie than an engagement session.

You do NOT have to know how to pose, you do NOT have to be “good at pictures.”. You don’t even have to feel completely comfortable in front of a camera for me.You just have to show up as yourselves and want to have a good time. And say the occasional “f**k it” maybe for the shots. ;)

Do that, and I’ll take it from there.

I’ll be honest…. I’m too unique to do just do things the way they’ve been done. And so are most of you reading this rn.

Because why not get ready together & married on a Monday? Why not have your ceremony & dinner in a boutique garden shop? And then party at an arcade together afterwards? Etc etc

Life is short. Have fun. Like REAL fun.

+ real *art* is made when you just *get* each others creatives language without even saying it, in the space where you can actually be free to be silly in front of a camera or extra romantic and moody or extra sexy or whatever the heck you want. It also requires the magic pixie dust, trust. Of which I’m deeply grateful that Laura & Evan gave me (and Colleen McHugh - shoutout to her amazing 8mm video shots) this day to document it all

I think empathy is one of my greatest artistic strengths. It’s almost like, it lowers a guard inside of me, and behind that guard is a deeper kind of creativity—one that’s reserved for moments that can’t you really cannot anticipate. The fleeting ones, the ones that ask you to notice instead of interrupt, the ones that really draw you into the present.

It takes patience & self-awareness. It takes allowing yourself to actually be moved by what you’re witnessing instead of simply observing it and snapping away. It requires you to actually connect with the moment like you do with your favorite movies.

As somebody who no longer has any grandparents who will be there on my wedding day someday, this first photograph was everything to me.

It immediately shifted how I experienced the rest of A&A’s wedding. I wasn’t just documenting a beautiful celebration; I became deeply aware of what everyone there had been waiting for, and just how much these moments meant.
