There’s something so special about slowing down and documenting this season before everything changes. 🤍

I loved meeting this sweet couple for their maternity session at Crane Creek Regional Park in Sonoma County. They shared how much they love the slower pace of life here — the open space, quiet evenings, rolling hills, and feeling connected to nature — and honestly, that’s exactly the energy this session held from start to finish.

And of course… they brought their dog. 🐾 Which made the session even more meaningful.

I absolutely love when families include their pets in maternity and family photos. Dogs are such an important part of your story before baby arrives, and they deserve to be part of these memories too. One of the biggest misconceptions about family and maternity photos is that kids need to be “perfect” for beautiful images to happen 🤍
This sweet boy felt everything during our session — happy and wild and independent one moment, stubborn and needing extra cuddles from mom the next. And honestly? That’s exactly what childhood looks like.
The best thing his parents did was let him be who he needed to be without adding pressure to perform or “smile for the camera.” They rode the wave with him, stayed calm, gave him space when he needed it, and loved on him through every emotion. That’s where the real moments happen.
As a photographer, a huge part of my job is reading those little signs. Knowing when to pivot, when to play, when to move things along, or when to simply slow down and let a child reset. Some of the most meaningful photos come from those in-between moments — the cuddles, the comfort, the connection.
