One of my favorite things about photographing homeschool communities is getting to witness the friendships and connections these kids are building together 🤍

From dances… to field day… to graduation in just a few short weeks — it’s been such a joy watching these moments unfold.

There’s something really special about seeing kids laugh together, cheer each other on, run barefoot through sprinklers, work together during games, and simply enjoy being kids in a space where they feel known and connected.

As a photographer, I know these images will one day become memories of a season that went by far too quickly. But as a mom and human, I think it’s even deeper than that.

Community matters.
Childhood matters.
Connection matters.

This week I had one of those photo sessions that reminded me why I love this job so much.

Ten cousins who grew up together came over to recreate some gloriously awkward 90s-style portraits… and we laughed the entire time.

We had 90s music playing, everyone committing fully to the ridiculous poses, and for a little while they got to be kids together again.

When their moms saw the photos they actually cried. 🥹

Sometimes photos aren’t about being perfect — they’re about remembering the people you grew up with and the fun you had together.

I have so many favorites from this session and can’t wait to share more.

Tag the people you’d want to do a session like this with — besties, siblings, cousins, coworkers… anyone who would fully commit to the awkwardness. 😂

Space Coast Academies is a homeschool community creating these connections and opportunities for kids—giving them an amazing life.

Photographing their dance reminded me how important these moments are…the kind that make childhood feel full and alive. Because every kid and teen deserves spaces where they can just be.
