Some love stories span cities. Others span oceans.
Sara’s journey to this moment began long before her wedding day. At just 16 years old, she came to the United States from Lebanon on a student visa, where she was welcomed by an incredible host family who became such an important part of her life. Watching them sit among the guests at her wedding was a beautiful reminder of how far her journey has come and the people who helped shape it along the way.
In 2021, Sara returned to the U.S. with her sister, Aya, to continue building her future. But in doing so, she left behind an entire world she loved deeply- her twin younger sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friends, and most importantly, her mother.
Yet distance never stood a chance against love.
Throughout the day, I captured countless photographs of Sara glancing off to the side with the sweetest smile on her face. At first glance, it might look like she was looking toward her guests. In a way, she was.
Thousands of miles away, across multiple time zones, nearly 40 family members and friends gathered in Lebanon to witness her ceremony through a Zoom call. While her wedding day unfolded here, it was 1:00 AM there—and every single one of them stayed awake to be part of this moment.
One of the most touching moments was watching Sara share the details of her day with her mother. With a smile full of pride and love, she held up the necklace she had chosen to wear—a necklace that once belonged to her mother. Even from across the world, her mother was woven into every part of her wedding day.
Weddings are often described as bringing two families together, but Sara’s wedding reminded me that love knows no borders, no oceans, and no time zones. Even separated by thousands of miles, the people she loves most were right there with her, celebrating every tear, every laugh, and every precious moment.
It was a beautiful reminder that home isn’t always a place—it’s the people who love you, no matter where they are in the world. 🌹
