As an only child I’ve never really experienced a sibling bond or relationship aside from nannying and babysitting. I had no idea how much watching these 2 girls bond over absolutely everything would make my heart explode.
It brings me so much joy to watch their love grow. Ten loved to sing songs with Calliope, teach her how to draw and write, help her brush her teeth and hair, get dressed and get snacks. And Calliope loves to do everything that Ten does, she looks up to her so, so much, she is so caring and checks on her whenever she is having a hard time.
Sisters. What a special, unique relationship that I hope continues to blossom and bloom as time goes on.

Our annual Seattle Christmas visit!
and downtown for lights, gingerbread houses and magic. It’s a lot of chaos to manage but every year we make memories and have fun!

One of my favorite things to do it take the same photo every year of Soren in this purple house :) It’s one of the only photos he happily takes each year and I treasure watching him grow every year.

Just a moment for the beautiful chaos of the season. So much baking, making, sewing, painting, cleaning and singing going on in our house that I don’t feel the need to document anymore. That’s what is all about. The realness and, my lord, it’s so much more comfy here.

A lil’ bit of sledding fun for my birthday weekend!

We went to crystal mountain and got stuck in the snow finding a forest road to sled down! Kinda fun, kinda scary, lots of excitement :) turns out 4-wheel drive doesn’t work in 1.5 ft of fresh snow ❄️❄️❄️

This was the weekend before Thanksgiving but it feels like months ago! We have been so busy soaking up all things holiday and enjoying our time as a family.

For all the mama’s out there doing all the things for the holidays and making the magic happen, you are amazing! And to all the mama’s doing their best, surviving this season, you are amazing! We all are doing the best we can and I know for certain that the last couple years I didn’t have the mental or physical capacity to do all the holiday things, this year I feel like I can! Every season of life is different and all we can do is give ourselves grace.

Also it feels so weird posting like this in the late stage of capitalism that we’re in, with how the world is, but sometimes its nice to just focus on what is bringing me joy in this moment.

I feel so old, so blessed to have lived this long and have all that I do. I’m grateful for every grey hair.

It has been a busy, busy week and so so so much fun with my 5 favorite people ❤️ (yes including myself 😂)
Thanksgiving goofiness at my favorite aunt’s house, and lots of laughs and amazing food too :)
The next day I had a super long, and super cold extended family shoot at an adorable Christmas tree farm and then we headed into the woods with our permit and got our own little magical tree!
Then birthday party goodness for Calliope and back to school and work until this weekend after which we’ve spent time writing letters to Santa and enjoying a tree lighting. December is so, so full and busy and I want to do it all this year to get the most out of the holiday season!
Looking forward to my birthday getaway this weekend and a wonderful day tomorrow celebrating my 34th year! Why does that feel so old?!
Anyways!
I sure love these little humans I get to spend life with, even if they drive me insane 50% of the time!

Last time breastfeeding.

It’s been over 8 years of this. 8 years of making my babies food from my body.

8 years of night feeds, tandem nursing, breastfeeding to soothe during sickness and anxiety, and whatever else comes our way.

To say I’m sad would be an understatement. It feels like a big steel door closing, especially on my last baby’s babyhood. I am so ready for my body to be mine again, but I also have no idea who I am when I’m not lactating.

This is an end of an era. The end of our family having young children, the end of having babies and being in my childbearing years. This is big.

I am so thankful for so many years of feeding my babies this way. Breastfeeding is no joke and for so many it’s so so hard, for me, it was a breeze. It truly felt like the most natural way of being for me. For years before having babies I would dream about breastfeeding them and was always sure that I would try my hardest to do so.

So I’ve done it! So many years, so empowering and bittersweet. These are moments and memories I will absolutely cherish for the rest of my days.
