There is nothing quite like the timeless beauty of an old-growth live oak in Florida. Draped in heavy Spanish moss and blanketed with vibrant resurrection ferns waking up from a recent rain, this magnificent giant always stops me in my tracks.
Here's an interesting fact about Resurrection Ferns: True to their name, these native epiphytes (air plant) can withstand severe dry spells by curling up and turning greyish-brown, only to "resurrect" into a lush green carpet within hours of a rainfall! Nature’s architecture at its finest. Harmless to the Tree: Much like Spanish moss, resurrection ferns are completely non-parasitic. They do not take any water or nutrients from the host live oak; they simply use the bark’s rough crevices for physical anchorage and absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the air and rain. 🌳✨
