It may look simple, but clean, precise product and catalog photography is anything but easy.

That’s what we created for Southern Lamps Inc. They provide high-quality UV and IR lamps, curing solutions, and equipment used in printing, disinfection, and manufacturing.

When the product is a reflective glass tube, lamp, or reflector, there’s nowhere to hide. Every reflection, highlight, edge, and detail has to be controlled. The photography needs to accurately represent the product while maintaining the clean, straightforward look required for a catalog or product line.

It’s not just about making a product look good. It’s about making sure the photograph looks like the product.

Simple. Clean. Precise.

And sometimes, that’s the hardest kind of photography

We’ve known these two for a long time, so creating their headshots was a special treat for us.

Over the years, we’ve watched Leah Garland train, compete in triathlon representing the USA, and grow her business. It has been wonderful to see her dedication and accomplishments along the way.

And what can I say about Dr. Peter Rodriguez? We’ve known each other since we were three years old, growing up as next-door neighbors. There’s a lot of history there—and plenty of stories!

So, photographing Leah and Peter wasn’t just another headshot session. It was a chance to catch up with old friends, celebrate where life has taken them, and create images that reflect who they are today.

True family. That’s what comes to mind first after photographing the Schwankes for the cover of Ocala Living.

What stood out wasn’t just the beautiful setting or the photographs—it was the genuine connection between them. Parents teaching their children the importance of giving back to their community, while making sure they’re having fun along the way.

Family, community, and a little laughter. That’s what makes a great story—and an even better photograph.

Low-key photography is a lighting style built around dark tones, deep shadows, and controlled highlights. Instead of evenly illuminating the entire subject, the photographer deliberately allows much of the image to fall into shadow.
The goal isn't simply to make a photograph dark. The darkness is part of the composition.

In college, I had a professor hold up a pencil and say, “This is the most powerful tool in the world. It can write a paragraph, tell a story, or draw a picture that could change the world.

Years later, I had the opportunity to take a seminar with Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer Eddie Adams. After his years as a wartime photographer, Eddie became one of the finest celebrity and environmental portrait photographers I ever had the privilege of meeting.

But one of his wartime photographs did something extraordinary—it helped change the course of a war.

Last night, we watched the movie Camera, and it reminded me why we should capture life every day. As art. As an image. As a simple voice that says, “This moment mattered.”

As professional photographers, we see every day the value and impact a photograph can have.

A photograph can preserve a family.
A face can bring back a memory.
A place can take you back to a moment in time.
An image can remind us of someone, something, or somewhere we never want to forget.

You don't have to hire us.

But please, take the time to hire a photographer who understands the value of a beautiful photograph—and what that image can mean to you, your family, and generations to come.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Never gets old seeing your work. Driving to a shoot for OTOW and you past three bill board with you work and then as you drive back to there 8 new models you see this were the new fitness center is being built.
