Created for UF Explore — an environmental portrait of Dr. Elias Sayour, whose pioneering mRNA cancer vaccine research is gaining worldwide attention.
Dr. Sayour and researchers from University of Florida and MD Anderson Cancer Center analyzed more than 1,000 medical records to study whether cancer patients receiving COVID-19 mRNA vaccines during immunotherapy lived longer than those who did not.
Their findings, published in Nature in October 2025, generated headlines around the globe:
“Study finds mRNA coronavirus vaccines prolonged life of cancer patients” — The Washington Post
“Is this the beginning of the end for cancer? mRNA breakthrough hints at universal vaccine” — The Times of India
“mRNA Covid vaccines may help some cancer patients fight tumors” — France24
An honor to create imagery helping tell stories that may shape the future of cancer treatment.
