You know I’m not going to stop posting this colorful wedding day anytime soon. 🌈💙🌹

I mean…a blue-dyed wedding dress + rainbow hair + a rose garden in full bloom?! How could I possibly choose just one post?! 😂

Everywhere I looked, there was another little burst of color and creativity. From the custom-dyed dress and rainbow hair to the unique wood flowers, games for guests, funky sunglasses, and all the colorful moments happening throughout the day, this wedding felt like it was made for my camera. 📸✨

I love photographing couples who aren’t afraid to make their wedding day feel like them. There’s no rule that says your wedding has to look a certain way. If you love color, USE IT. If you want blue instead of white, DO IT. If rainbow hair makes you happy, absolutely YES. 🌈

For this studio session, I wanted a backdrop that felt bold and graphic to go with our Pattern Play theme.

So I custom-built these black and white checkered backdrops and painted some props a bright red so they’d pop off the scene. The direct flash added to the bold look and brought the moment together!

I love creating sets like this at Bright Bay Studio. Give me a blank space and an idea, and I’ll go a little crazy with it 😆

Second round of Happy Headshots for the oh-so-colorful 🌈✨

She did all the embellishing on her black blazer herself, turning it into a unique and wearable piece of art 🙌🏼

Also, I may have audibly gasped when she pulled out this floral power suit! 🤩

It’s such an honor to get to photograph clients again and again. Getting to see how their businesses, brands, and personal style evolve over time is one of my favorite parts of what I do. 💕

This is my friend and breast cancer twin, Erin. 👯‍♀️

We met last year in a group for young people with breast cancer (BAYS), and we immediately discovered that not only did we have the same type of breast cancer, but we shared so many other similarities as well:

Like biking across the country in the same year, a career in health care (did you know that I’m also a critical care nurse?), and we were both in the middle of reading the same book!

Last year, she had a double mastectomy with flat closure just a few days before I had my own breast cancer surgery. We were going through so many of the same things at almost exactly the same time, and having someone who really got it made such a difference.

Also, having someone who’s adventurous and likes to try new things was perfect during the long break I had from work in the midst of all the cancer stuff last year. We found ourselves hanging out all the time, trying new crafts, checking out the county fair, shopping, hiking, and so many more things!

These photos are from one of our recent adventures to a zinnia farm (Mezger Family Zinnia Patch). I decided to bring my camera and I was honored to get to photograph her among the flowers. When she spontaneously suggested that we document her post surgery scars, I was all for it! (See the last 2 photos)

The main thing I want all my couples to come away with on their wedding day is that they had a great time and truly enjoyed themselves and their people. That’s what matters most!

Kate and Matt had the perfect size guest list to spend real, intentional time with everyone they invited. They gave themselves a relaxed timeline, left room to wander, and built a day around being together instead of rushing from one event to the next.

And I love how they started their day! We met at the entrance to the San Francisco Botanical Garden and I photographed them walking through the gardens toward their ceremony location. Partway through, we met up with her parents, and they all walked together to the redwoods (photo 3), where the rest of their people were waiting.

After the ceremony, everyone had time to mingle and explore the gardens while we wandered off for some couple photos. A relaxed timeline also means opportunity for creativity like the first image (double exposure in camera)!

Then they all met up again for an intimate dinner at the beautiful Greens.

A wedding day that felt less like a schedule to get through and more like a day they actually got to live. And isn’t that the whole point?

Cassie + Mateo are the kind of couple who make everything more fun. So naturally, their summer soirée wedding followed suit (on his family’s 40 acre walnut orchard)!

Colorful flowers. Poolside cocktails. His grandma as the officiant. Al fresco dinner in the orchard. And shoes that absolutely understood the assignment. Plus a hot pink backdrop that I brought along for some extra fun and colorful energy. 🩷

This is what 10 years of friendship and 10 years of togetherness looks like! 💛

These two kept their San Mateo County Clerk wedding intimate with a small group of family, a friend officiating, and their very best boy, Olaf, by their side. And obviously, Olaf needed a matching bow tie for the occasion! 🐾💜

They also brought their faux flower bouquet and boutonniere all the way from Japan, making the day even more personal and meaningful.

My favorite kind of day: A sweet, colorful, joy-filled celebration with the people (and pups!) who matter most 🥂✨
