Our first Zip Trip is in the books! We visited Oakley this past Friday. KTVU is visiting cities and towns across the Bay Area and my assignment is to pick a few places, try the food, and report back! And oh, by the way, I take photos while I’m doing this. Next stop, Oakland’s Jack London Square. Any suggestions welcome for any of the cities we are featuring this summer, or even your local restaurant which I could feature individually!

I had a chance to interview Giants and MLB legend Dusty Baker today. He is advocating for cardiovascular health after some heart health scares earlier in his life. He is reminding folks to get screenings, check your cholesterol, stay vigilant about your heart health. Oh and I also asked a few baseball questions too. He wants fans to give Tony Vitello time to make his mark. No, I didn’t ask him about taking the ball from Russ Ortiz! 😆

Flashback Friday! I took this photo (on film) back when I was helping my buddy document his hosting of Dance Party, a local TV show in the Bay Area. Do you know who this is? Hint: I worked with him on a well-known radio station in San Francisco. Extra bonus, do you recognize any of the people standing next to him?

Mistakes! You make a lot of them as a photographer. Overexposure, wrong shutter speed, aperture, etc. With film it was even less forgiving. Still, I like looking at my mistakes and I learn and remember when I look back at them. (This shot clearly has issues 😆) When was the last time, if ever, you shot on film?

Welcome to our new meteorologist Bryan Gallo! I took this photo as he was getting his official KTVU headshots taken. I like the contrast of his shadow falling on the white seamless backdrop.

As a photographer I really like behind the scenes photos. Who watches Bryan’s forecast?
Drop a Bay Area welcome to him in the comments below.

A long time ago I was the DJ at a party in San Francisco and, as usual, I had my camera with me. I took this photo. This is not me! Do you know any of these people? By now they might be parents and have kids this age. 😆

My dad gave me a camera and allowed me to walk all over San Francisco taking photos. That habit has continued for decades. Here is a photo of a fire I came upon in the city. I took a photo of two TV reporters I saw on the scene: Sherry Hu (KPIX) and Willie Monroe (KGO) both legendary TV reporters. I didn’t know at the time I would later be working in TV news. Years later I have reported on plenty of fires for KTVU. What is a local TV reporter you remember from back in the day?

I love San Francisco because I was born and raised there. Whenever my dad went on errands he took me along. This photo is of the Sunset District at sunset. As an added bonus check out the 1977 Chevy that happened to drive by when I was taking this photo of streetcars. This photo was taken at the end of Judah Street near the street car turnaround. It might be impossible for me to name my favorite San Francisco neighborhood but The Sunset is a strong contender. Do you have a favorite neighborhood in your city, SF or otherwise? As you know photos are always appreciated!

Take 2 This Morning is a show we do every weekday from 10-10:30 on our streaming channel. We talk about news of the day and sometimes interview guests. Andre, Gasia, and I take turns hosting. Today Andre’s guest was Oakland’s own Mistah Fab talking about his new book “A Disturbed Breath.” I snapped this photo right before they went live.

Cinco De Mayo is mostly celebrated here in the United States. That's ok! Any excuse to eat Mexican food and enjoy Mexican culture. Today I got to do just that on our TV segments with ballet folklorico and some great food including some great mole poblano from Mamita Cocina Mexicana in Novato. I had a few margaritas so if you need me I'll be napping this afternoon.😅😅

Please suggest some great Bay Area Mexican restaurants because I'm always look to try new places!
