hi! i’m sarah :) swipe along to learn more about me ->

🀎in december i graduated from east tennessee state university and now work night shift as a nurse at my local hospital

🀎 i was born and raised in a small town outside of nashville tennessee

🀎 this spring i finally for my first horse! meet aspen! she is still very green with only a couple rides on her but i am so excited to grow with her and see how we both turn out! shoutout to my boyfriend for making my childhood dream come true :))

🀎 my walk with jesus is the most important thing in my life! jesus loves you!

🀎 my favorite thing to do is hike with my dog Bandy. this is how i first picked up a camera and learned photography. we love all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, kayaking/paddleboarding, backpacking, off roading you name it!

🀎 bandy has his own instagram, . he’s giving you side eye for not following him, because what are you doing ??

🀎 I recently moved to montana to follow my dreams. I cannot wait to spend more time around horses, mountains, and photographing the grit and beauty of the wild west.

🀎 I grew up obsessed with horses, but my parents couldn’t afford for me to ride. they assumed it would be a phase, but the horse girl lives inside me forever! and don’t you dare question my outfit choices from back in the day🀣

🀎 when i moved away for college, I took the horsemanship class, started lessons, and spent my summers working at a barn. while it was hard to stay consistent, I wanted to learn as much as possible and be around horses as much as I could. I became even more addicted!

🀎 I have a deep passion for horses and the western lifestyle. that is the reason I started rust and range photography, because I am dedicated to capturing it as much as I can.

that’s a little about me! I would love to hear about you in the comments!🀎

my biggest challenges as a photographer (and it’s not what you think)

1. comparison
the thief of joy. I struggle a lot with comparing myself to other western photographers with way more followers, better content, consistent clients. but I forget to remind myself that I am only 21, and all these famous influencers have many years of experience on meπŸ™ˆ being grateful for the small wins is still a work in progress.

2. perfectionism
i’m not typically a perfectionist, but when it comes to photography I often get caught up in the rules and details. making sure every photo is sharp, perfectly in focus, has good composition. but i’ve learned that those are not what everyone else looks at. i want my photography to represent real memories and the grit of the western lifestyle, not be fake and perfect.

3. time
if only God created more hours in the dayπŸ˜… working a full time nursing job (plus night shift eek) does not give me enough time and motivation to seek photography opportunities as much as I hoped for. plus add editing, marketing, and all the other million things. I don’t even know how the full time peeps keep up!

4. the algorithm
most of us relate to this oneπŸ₯΄. I miss when instagram supported small creators and businesses! my content gets zero views or engagement, despite my feed being blown up with similar accounts that I don’t even follow. it makes it so hard to grow my business and find clients when I am being silenced by the algorithm.

5. connection
connecting both online and in person is so hard these days. we all live busy lives and genuine connection is no longer a priority the way it should be. connecting with clients, businesses, and fellow creators doesn’t feel the same anymore! one day I hope to attract more of the type of clients who want to be friends and stay in touchπŸ₯°

what I’ve learned from these challenges is, don’t let anything come between you and what you love. If God has placed a passion in your life, pursue it.

which one do you relate to the most?

get on that horse. work those cows. live free.

ready for a simple kinda summer🀎

I am so beyond grateful and excited to have my first summer in Montana around the corner! My horse Aspen will hopefully be moving closer to me, and so will some cowboyin’ with it, so things might get a little western🀠

obsessed with how this session turned out!😍

I am so excited for spring here in Montana. despite the insanely nice winter we had, I am so ready for everything to green up and for all the flowers to bloom. I just know this state has so much to for me to love and I’ve only scratched the surface! And on top of that, I am looking forward to spending time with my own new horse as well🀎🌸 🐎

2026 is the year of the horse.

The horse represents freedom, adventure, passion, and ambition. Horses are bold and full of grace.

I don’t usually pay attention to things like this, but this year, especially as an equestrian, I find this one to be very suiting. I am starting this year with bold ambition in hopes to expand my adventures, to grow my passion that I have held in my heart for years. This is the year I will finally have a horse of my own, and have the time and money to make my dreams come true. I am so excited to see what this year has in store in nursing, photography, and especially horses🀎🐎
