2027 Calendar Pre-Sale is on until 9/3!
[Will you Time Travel with me every month?]

Have you ever stood somewhere and wondered what you would have seen, heard, or even smelled if you were standing in that exact same spot 50, 80, even 100+ years ago?

I do it ALL the time.

The roar of a packed Naranche Stadium during a 1940s Cat-Griz game.

The hustle and bustle of people making their way down Main Street, past the Marcus Daly statue with the Original Mine looming behind it.

The clatter of a horse and buggy making its way down Hamilton Street.

The smells coming from the kitchen of the Pekin Noodle Parlor.

The Original Mine glowing green during An Ri Ra today, and how it wasn't so chipper with music, food and fun back in the mining heydey.

I wonder a lot. I imagine a lot.

And, in case you weren’t aware, I’ve been creating ā€œTime Travelā€ art over the past few years combining historic images from with Today.

And now?

I’m inviting you to travel along with me every single month of 2027 with my brand new Time Travel in Butte Calendar.

Sometimes the universe has a terrible sense of humor.

Right next to the smoldering M&M was a restaurant sign.
OMG.

No, literally. That was the name of the restaurant next door.

And I just stood there on Main Street, smoke still in the air, staring at it.

The universe, apparently, has a terrible sense of humor.

If Alanis Morissette had been standing next to me that morning, she would have pulled out a napkin and started writing.

And it felt like the entire city was mourning.

Because the M&M wasn't just a building of brick and wood and those iconic metal doors.

It was sticky floors on St. Patrick's Day.
It was 2:30 a.m. hash browns, extra crispy, after a long night.
It was the kind of place where you could feel the history the moment you walked in.
And just like that... it was gone.....
I knew almost immediately that I wanted to create a time travel image of the M&M.

But every time I tried, something was off.
I couldn't make it work. I couldn't make it feel right.

Then, on St. Urho's Day two years ago, the owner put the refurbished M&M sign up in its new location.

That location?
The old OMG restaurant.

I decided it was time to finally create and complete a time travel image of the M&M. The sign going back up just seemed like my own sign (pardon the pun!) to create the artwork.

And it's been one of my most popular print and wall art images.
I have one 16x20 acrylic of this piece available.

Normally $260... yours for $195.

If you want it, just reply to this post or DM me and let me know.

I'll send the first person who claims it an invoice. (Studio pickup, no shipping on this one)

Long live the M&M.

I love when a senior session takes place somewhere meaningful, with history and stories.

Billy's session meant an early morning drive before the heat out to the place where he grew up, complete with an old red barn, beautiful Montana scenery, and his Scout.

On the drive, Teal shared old family photos, including one of Billy sitting in the Scout as a little boy, along with some wonderfully fun portraits her mom made of Teal and her siblings when they were kids. I also photographed Billy and his sister, Liberty, when they were toddlers, so we recreated one of those photos of them peeking out from behind the barn.

Thanks, Teal, Billy, and Liberty, for such a fun morning! I always enjoy the conversations just as much as the photographs, especially when they come with old photos and stories.

*** While I focus more on Time Travel Art right now, I do also photography high school seniors, families and tween sessions. Reach out if you have a high school senior - 406-533-8125, [email protected]

You Have to See This in Person.

A new 13-foot-wide by 6-foot-tall Time Travel Art installation has arrived at The Miners Hotel in Uptown Butte, blending a 1932 photograph from the Butte Archives with the same scene today.

Because it's so large, you can...

• See historic details like the National Furs sign.
• Spot the original YMCA sign.
• Discover buildings that disappeared decades ago.
• Watch 1932 blend seamlessly into today.
• Feel like you're walking into the photograph instead of just looking at it.

And the coolest part?

You're in the scene.

Stand in front of the windows and suddenly the line between past and present begins to disappear. You're standing directly beneath the historic National Furs sign, right where it appeared in 1932.

A huge thank you to Tom Klemp and everyone at The Miners Hotel for trusting me to create the artwork for this project, and to Park Street Printers for bringing it to life at such an incredible scale—and on such a quick timeline.

šŸ“ŗ John Emeigh from KXLF stopped by during installation today, so keep an eye on tonight's news!

If you stop by, I'd love to hear what detail catches your eye first.

[Americana, mining, camaraderie, or MOTHERHOOD?]

This photo has a meaning to it that you would not expect. I took it 15 years ago (almost to the hour).

It was the Exchange Club's first Field of Honor. I was a member and volunteered to do the photos.

I was also due the next day. Water broke, husband got drenched by the sprinkler system helping out, then we were in the hospital. The next day at exactly 12:05 (five minutes after what would have been his perfect due date), out came the most beautiful child in the world.

Here I am today, thinking about this and getting a little emotional. He turns fifteen tomorrow. I just rejoined the Exchange Club. And he is the perfect big brother to his brothers, and especially to our daughter, Lily.
