Aaron, you nailed this entire “40s in a Bag” festival right on the head.

I’ll never be the guy taking home all the trophies, I’m definitely not the shaved engine bay guy, and my car is mediocre at best… but that’s never been why I come.

I come for the experience.

Setting up with friends you’ve known for 10+ years, tiki torches lighting up the campground, morning dew on the cars, random conversations at 2 AM, and walking around seeing the passion everyone brings to this weird little Volkswagen world we all somehow ended up in.

This isn’t really a car show. It’s a reunion, a campout, a community, and an experience all rolled into one.

You get to reconnect with people you haven’t seen in years, meet new friends with the same mindset, and maybe throw your 40 down in front of the car that really made you stop and appreciate the effort behind it. Or maybe that 40 ends up forgotten on a random table in someone’s tent by midnight. Honestly, both outcomes feel equally on brand.

Bringing this back might actually be saving what a lot of us have been missing all along.

I always said I never really had a “go to” wheel brand… yet here we are, somehow ending up on my fourth set of Fifteen52 wheels.

I’ve run all kinds of setups over the years, but for some reason I always circle back to Fifteen52. They just get the VW scene. The perfect mix of classy and sporty while still being durable enough to survive New York roads… which honestly destroy wheels faster than a fat kid annihilates Dino nuggets on mom’s basement couch during a Netflix binge.

So now the Beetle gets a fresh set of shoes with 18” Fifteen52 Tarmac wheels, tying together the white and brown vibe of the Bug perfectly. Definitely a different direction for me since my last setups all wore wide whitewalls, but I’m honestly loving the change.

The ride quality is better than what I had before, and it still keeps that sporty edge while capturing some of the old-school character I’ve always leaned toward with this car.

At this point the Atlas, the Volvo, and now the Beetle are all rocking the Fifteen52 brand.

Guess this is my “go to wheel” after all. And honestly… I’m perfectly okay with that.
