The matriarch of the talent being my grandmother Ekaterini, she was a designer and a dress maker; in the 1970’s before my grandmother came t
o NYC she was a dressmaker in Kefallonia Greece. When she came to NY she taught my mother how to design and make dresses, as well as she made the clothing for our family as well as she made dresses for sale for special occasions. As my mother got older my mother had a talent for drawing and painting. Later on she used her talents to make beautiful vases and other priceless items. As I was growing up I was mesmerized by what my mom and my grandmother did, and I always wondered if I had some type of talent of my own. My mom used to give me old disposable cameras and I was fascinated with taking photos but I never thought I can make it into something that was as great as what my mother and grandmother did. When I was sixteen my uncle bought me my first digital camera and it started to change my world. To the point when I was 20 years old and I thought I would take my first photography class and it taught me things I already knew. I started to build myself up from the discouraging remarks from an ignorant professor and on my 21st birthday my sister gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams and gave me the best gift ever, my camera “warrior.” (just like people name their cars I name my camera)

The inspiration for my photography is these women that posses such an art and they are so strong character and the motivation they have to keep going with their art. As well as the rose is a symbol for the support they gave me throughout my lifetime. The rose is eternal its everlasting just like what they mean to me. Katie Kay Photography is a company that does not judge on anything, we shoot for any occasion private events, public affairs, photoshoots, holidays, nightclubs etc. We never discriminate on anything you would prefer to do for your shoot. But our main goal is to make sure that whatever it is that you need that we capture each and every important moment of it.
