Nor’easter?? No problem. Two weeks ago, Rebecca and Amit had dreams of their wedding outdoors at The Bordone LIC with the beautiful Manhattan skyline as their backdrop. But Mother Nature had other plans.

Thankfully, these two had the best attitude. And matched with incredible planning by WedWell and the couple’s trust in me, we made it work!! With some double doors of the venue propped open, and a little ingenuity on my part (think deep squat, smart lighting, and proper camera angling), they now have the memory of being “outside” without ever having stepped foot in the rain.

Thanks to everyone who made this day incredible!

A wedding’s story is in the expressions. The look on someone’s face when they first see you. The laugh that breaks the nerves. Your parents trying very hard not to cry. Your friends absolutely failing to behave themselves.

Sarah and Ethan’s wedding had it all.

These are the photographs I’m always looking for: not just what happened, but what it felt like when it happened. Thanks Sarah Parkes and Ethan for letting me tell your story!

Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan got upstaged by Caitlin and Jodi’s love.

Their wedding day was all hugs, laughter, forehead touches, and attempts to occupy the same square foot. Even the portraits refused to stay posed for long.

Then the reception began, and personal space disappeared. Parents spun across the dance floor, friends sang into faces, and the brides danced like dignity had clocked out after dinner.

The photos move between grand New York architecture and something much harder to construct: two families who could not stop reaching for one another.

Engagement shoots should be FUN. They’re best when they reflect what’s uniquely you, and sometimes that’s goofy and playful! It’s your chance to connect with each other and the camera before your big day. Which is your favorite?

The church gave me a stately stone arch. Chris gave me a 👍. Kirsten’s reaction gave me the photograph.

These two took timeless elegance to the next level and added a sprinkle of playfulness. Their wedding had style without stiffness and genuine emotion that steered my lens toward each moment. So grateful to have shared these memories!

Camera-shy? Good. You’ll love what we create together.

Some of my favorite quotes from clients during a planning meeting are:
“I’m not photogenic.”
“I don’t like being the center of attention.”
“We never take good photos together.”
“I feel awkward in front of a camera.”

By the end of a portrait session, those same couples say: “That was a lot more fun than I thought it would be!”

Andrea and Alex were very open with me about their discomfort at the start. But we had such a blast during their portrait session. And after their wedding, they wrote to me:

“We are so happy with our photos and our family members are too. You made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera and the whole day SO much more stress-free. Thank you again, we will cherish our photos forever!”

You don’t have to be photogenic. You just need a photographer who listens and understands you. I promise to make you feel as at ease in front of the camera as you feel with each other.

They didn’t do every wedding thing. They did everything that mattered to them.

Andrew and Mo skipped the wedding party and the obligatory catalog of shoes, ties and accessories. Instead, they exchanged bracelets at their first look. Their dads helped them get ready. Close friends signed their ketubah. Their immediate families filled the front row. And at the end of their ceremony, they broke two glasses together.

Then came the tequila shots, the hora, four parent speeches, espresso martinis … and a few stolen minutes on the roof with sparklers.

Polished, personal and entirely their own.

That’s always the goal: not to photograph what a wedding is supposed to be, but to photograph who these two people actually are.

Different cultures, fantastic style, and a shared deep love for family…Mansi & Korey brought it all! I had the honor of capturing two days of their epic four-day wedding and highlighted the best moments on my latest blog post.

What started with a close, colorful, and crowded Mehndi ended on the rooftop of 74Wythe with Manhattan glowing across the river. Head to ryanbrenizer.com/blog to see more!
