It was pretty fun to follow a dark winding path I had never run before just armed with my headlamp and the Strava route.

Buoys going out at dusk, green caps everywhere, and a whole community that shows up at 6:30 in the morning for a mile of open water. That’s Grimaldo’s Mile with CIBBOWS

Shooting open water swimming is nothing like shooting on land.

You are in the water with the swimmers, treading with one hand and holding the camera with the other while the swell picks you up and drops you. Or on a boat that rocks a lot and makes you dizzy. No tripod, no solid ground. Each swimmer passes you once. You either get the frame or you don’t. Then you’re swimming out to the finish line with gold in your SD card.

Not many people can shoot this and that’s exactly why I wanted it. Looking forward to more of this 🌊
