First-year students in the course Picture Symposium taught by Camilo Godoy () visited BAXTER ST at the Camera Club of NY () to meet artist Allie Tsubota () in her current solo exhibition 'Milk Teeth'.
A black-and-white photograph from 1870 depicting 75 Chinese boys and young men trafficked from California to Massachusetts as strikebreakers serves as the starting point for Tsubota’s exploration, through photography, sculpture, and writing, of the interconnected histories of race, labor, migration, and photography. The exhibition is on view through November 11, 2026.

Second-year students in our Video II class with Miah Artola were given an assignment earlier this semester to create a short day-in-the-life video of their student experience.
We loved the variety of approaches and styles, and we’ll be sharing some of the videos over the next few weeks.

Today, Clio Bildman’s fun and energetic look at a busy day at BFA Photography and Video.

𝙈𝙊𝙈𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙐𝙈 is on view through November 14.
In addition to showcasing work at a pivotal moment in their practice, this third-year exhibition is an opportunity for our students to consider how their work is being displayed and, in collaboration with our department and SVA Galleries staff, gain hands-on experience hanging work in a professional gallery setting.

The exhibition is curated by Seminar faculty, Tanyth Berkeley and Greg Pond.

Last week, BFA Photography and Video hosted Lindsay Adler for a multi-day visit:
In addition to hearing her incredible i3 Lecture, our students had the opportunity to participate in Adler's Lighting and Fashion Portraiture workshop and do one-on-one portfolio reviews. Adler was also a guest reviewer in our second-year Critique 1 class with Stacy Renee Morrison and did a Fashion Lighting demo in Janusz Kawa's Advanced Fashion Studio I class.
Thank you to for sponsoring this amazing educational experience for our students.

Emma is a commercial, editorial, and fine art photographer, and we're excited for our students and community to hear about how her career developed since she graduated from BFA Photo Video in 2015.

The i3 Lecture Series is co-hosted by SVA BFA Photography and Video and MFA Photography, Video and Related Media. Free and open to the public with registration.

Our Abby Robinson Share Space has been busy since it opened a few weeks ago, with our students, faculty, and staff posting current work and even photos of Abby herself.

We will start taking down images to make room for more, and we encourage our community to fill up the space and show us what they're working on.
