A client asked me last week whether the same photograph would work in her home and in her husband's office lobby. Same image, but the answer is two different prints.
After hanging large-format work in private homes, country clubs, resort properties, and corporate spaces across Southwest Florida, I've watched one image land two completely different ways depending on the room it enters. Here's what shifts.
For a home, I'm thinking about intimacy and personal story. You live with the piece every day. It should reward a close look, hold up in changing light, and sit at a scale that fills the wall without crowding the room you actually move through. The right size is usually bigger than feels comfortable, then stops just short of taking over.
For a lobby, the job changes. Scale, impact, and the feel a brand wants a guest to carry out the door. The piece has to read from across a room, survive glare and foot traffic, and say something about the property in the first three seconds. Metal earns its place here.
Same photograph. Two very different decisions.
If you're staring at a wall, at home or in a space that greets people, tell me about the room and the light before you commit. I have strong opinions. 🌅
