Most people don’t realize Wewahitchka got its name from a Seminole expression meaning “water eyes.” The name comes from Lake Alice and Lake Julia sitting in the middle of town, looking like a pair of eyes from above.
This little rural town in Gulf County is also home to the beautiful Dead Lakes one of Florida’s most unique and peaceful places. Hard to beat the views out here.

The Dixie Mainline near Suwannee has a quiet past most people don't know about..
What looks like a peaceful stretch of marsh today was once a rough logging tram route in the 1920s, built to haul cypress out of these swamps. After the timber was gone, it went back to being a beautiful salt marsh road, eventually becoming part of the Lower Suwannee refuge.

I have been busy in my darkroom for the last month, going through many years of negatives. Making test prints as I narrow down my winners and losers, definitely more losers 😎 There is something therapeutic about cranking tunes and making prints in the dark. I have been doing it this way for over fifty years, kinda crazy.

Satellite
I remember not that long ago, I could point my camera at a dark moonless sky to capture the Milky Way, and stars was all my camera saw. Fast forward 10 years or so (and it does seem fast) and the night sky is full of satellites. In this single 20 second exposure, there are at least 4 visible satellites streaking their way across the night sky, crazy.
