Destin family photos are great… but this right here is what I hope people remember.
Not perfectly lined up. Not everyone looking at the camera.

Just cousins making circles in the sand while the sun dropped and nobody cared if they got sandy.

Brandi brought her grandbabies down from Alabama and we spent sunset together on Dune Allen Beach doing what kids do best… running, laughing, and making the kind of memories that feel bigger years later than they do in the moment.

These are the images I always come back to.

The ones that feel like summer.

Senior photos while on vacation? YES PLEASE!

Stephanie and her family were visiting from Oklahoma and got up for an 8am full beach session in PCB and honestly… worth it, it's always worth it!

One of my favorite things about senior sessions at the beach is they never feel overly formal. We wandered through the palms, sat in the sand, stole a few beach chair moments, walked the shoreline, and ended with cap + gown because senior year deserves at least one “wait… how are we already here?” moment.

I love when seniors show up as themselves instead of feeling like they have to perform for the camera.

Stephanie, thank you guys for trusting me with this season. I hope years from now these still feel exactly like this morning felt.

Does this feel like your kind of session.

Not overly posed. Not perfect in the “everyone look and smile” way. Just little hands, beach walks, carrying babies that won’t let you put them down, kisses that weren’t planned, and ending up ankle-deep in the water because why not.

Becky’s family showed up and let the morning be what it was… and honestly those are usually the galleries that end up feeling the most like home later.

One day the curls won’t fit in your arm the same way. One day she won’t stop to inspect every wave. One day carrying two kids at once won’t even be an option anymore.

But this morning? You get to keep.

Messages like this never get old to me.

After their session Marisa texted me and said:

“Thank you so much for an easy, relaxed session this morning… I told my husband you’re my dream photographer.”

And if I’m honest… that one got me.

Because yes, I love creating beautiful images. I love editing. I love the art of it.

But what I want people to leave with most is not feeling stressed, awkward, rushed, or like they had to perform for photos.

I want it to feel easy.
I want you to feel seen.
I want your kids to laugh and your husband to leave saying, “that actually wasn’t bad” 😂
I want your vacation memories to feel like your vacation.

And hearing that she felt relaxed and excited before even seeing the gallery… that means everything to me.

Marisa, thank you for trusting me with your family and for words I’ll probably carry for a while! I cannot wait for y’all to see the full gallery.

This sunset absolutely showed off for Jenny’s family 🤍

One of my favorite things is when people coordinate outfits without trying too hard and somehow the beach just meets them there.

The soft blues, whites, sandy neutrals… and then the sky decided to match right back with all the peach, lavender, and golden tones.

It felt effortless.

Jenny’s family came down to Inlet Beach from Lafayette, Indiana and trusted me to document this season while they were together and I already know they have no idea what’s waiting in the rest of their gallery.

There’s something about vacation photos that hit differently when you stop trying to make them perfect and just let everyone be together.

I can’t wait for them to see the full story from this night because this sunset was only the beginning!

Extended family sessions have quietly become one of my favorite things to shoot.

Everyone always thinks they’re booking it for grandma and grandpa… and then halfway through everyone realizes they needed these too.

The siblings.
The grown kids.
The spouses.
The people who usually stand behind the camera.

And I swear every extended family session starts the same—
“We never do pictures.”
“This is gonna be chaotic.”
“We just want one good one.”

Then sunset happens and suddenly everyone’s hugging and laughing and I’m over there yelling, “WAIT DON’T MOVE.”

There is something really special about documenting the people who made your family what it is.

Miramar Beach sunset sessions always surprise me… but this one surprised me in the best way!

Brenda originally booked this as an extended family beach session.

Then she showed up and casually forgot to mention she was PREGNANT!!

And listen…

There was absolutely no chance I was letting her leave without taking a few photos that were just for her.

Because one thing I've learned after photographing so many families is this:

The trip gets remembered.
The baby gets remembered.

But moms in the middle of becoming?

Sometimes those photos never get taken.

So we stole a few quiet minutes.

Nothing overplanned.
Nothing formal.
Just documenting this exact season.

The way she looked at him.
The way he looked at her.
The way she held her belly without even thinking about it.

And can we talk about these clouds for a second because Miramar decided to show OFF. The soft storm light, the water, the glow… PERFECTION!

Alexa told me she loved my edits and we ended up talking about something I don't think I explain enough.

I LOVE shooting.

But editing… editing is my favorite part.

Not because I want to change the moment.
Because I want to reflect how it felt.

I think our brains remember moments differently than they actually looked.

We remember vacation as warmer.
The sunsets more golden.
The water more vibrant.
The people we love looking at us a little softer.

And I think that's because we don't actually remember the details…

We remember the feeling.

That feeling of being free.
Being together.
Being loved.
Being completely in the moment.

So when I edit, I'm not trying to create something that wasn't there.

I'm trying to bring back what your heart remembers.

Alexa immediately understood what I meant and I loved that because that's exactly what I hope people feel when they get their galleries back.

Not "wow that's pretty."

But…

"That is exactly how that felt."
