Graduation information.

Graduation information.

Greetings Wildcat Families. This is your principal, Nic Allen, with an important graduation update. After seeking out every available forecast, from Brad Panovich to highly tuned Federal Aviation radars, we have made the difficult decision to move graduation indoors tomorrow. We decided to make the call earlier than planned to give our families as much time as possible to plan for the changes. Please pay careful attention to the information below regarding adjustments to the ceremony.

The graduation ceremony will take place at 10am. We ask that students arrive at Lake Norman no later than 7am. This is one hour later than previously planned. We want our graduates to enjoy their time before the ceremony and since every single graduate attended practice today, we are altering the arrival time to better accommodate our graduates. We will open the building and our gym at 8am for ticket holders. Shuttle buses will begin operation from Lakeshore Middle at 8am as well. Building access will only be allowed for individuals that have an unused GoFan LNHS graduation ticket. Screenshots will not be accepted.

The following policies will be in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable indoor ceremony.

Only clear bags will be permitted and no umbrellas will be allowed in the gym. (They can be placed outside the gym and picked up on your way out.)

No outside chairs or seating that has backs or arms will be allowed. Cushions that go underneath spectators will be allowed as long as they do not cover an area bigger than your seat. We expect a completely filled gymnasium and we cannot accommodate any item that reduces seating capacity.

Due to the size of our venue and the need to fill every seat to accommodate all of our guests, saving seats and/or reserving areas will not be allowed. LNHS staff will lead guests to their seats and we will fill in seating as spectators arrive in the gym. If you want to sit with your party, you must enter the gym together. As the venue is much smaller than the stadium, every seat allows for excellent viewing of the ceremony.

While we wish we could accommodate more guests, friends and family members that do not have tickets can watch the ceremony on our high quality livestream feed. The link to this feed is below. We will not be able to host livestream viewing in our school as our auditorium is used as a staging area for our graduates prior to the ceremony.

Our staff will be hard at work in the early morning hours making final preparations to ensure a ceremony befitting of our graduates. We appreciate your understanding and patience and we are looking forward to hosting you in the morning. Thank you for your support and Go Wildcats!

Teacher Appreciation Month - They are the best!!

Teacher Appreciation Month - They are the best!!

May is Teacher Appreciation Month with Teacher Appreciation Week being May 4-8th and National Teacher Day is May 5th. Our May issue celebrates our local teachers. Teachers do so much more than teach and are neighbors, caretakers, friends, counselors, second moms and dads to our kids. What better way to show a teacher that you appreciate them than to march with them tomorrow on May 1st at Halifax Hall in Raleigh, starting at 10am. If you cannot go to the rally, the next best thing is to help a teacher attend by watching their children or showing support to them in other ways tomorrow and next week. The teachers on our covers were nominated by students and parents all over our community. If you think we missed some great ones, please reach out so that we can include them next year!

Teacher pay in NC ranks 46th nationally, 48th adjusted for inflation. 2/3 teachers have to get 2nd or 3rd jobs to pay their bills. Teachers at year 15 get no salary increases for the remainder of their careers. Jobs at Costco, fast food management and nannying (for one family!) pay more per hour than teaching now. Most teachers have as much education as lawyers and doctors. All work at least 210 days a year and most put in much more than 8 hours a day and work weekends and summers on lesson plans, running clubs, helping students, working dances and athletic events, in addition to CEUs and professional development. Those who teach know it is the hardest job in the world and we all should know it's one of the most important.

Thank you to all of our teachers past, present and future. We support you in all you do and hope tomorrow's event helps improve our schools and increases your pay. You all deserve so much more and at the very least, our respect and appreciation.

Also in this issue, learn about the Lipe Family from Deep Well from Andy Poore of the Mooresville Public Library, responsible watering from the Town of Mooresville NC, finding peace with Hope Anderson, skin cancer prevention tips, places for food and fun on Lake Norman from Captain John Johnson, and all the June events happening around the lake.

Our community experts offer tips and insight on a variety of interesting topics. Learn all about fiberglass pool options from Cyndi Osterhus from Osterhus Outdoors Fiberglass Pools, the cost analysis between a new car and a good used car from Doug Vidler at Christian Brothers Automotive, and the best (and worst) things to splurge on for home renovations by Sarah Fiel of Home Theory.

We are honored to welcome our new community business partners and sponsors BozaBoards Grazing & Event Design, Carolina BioOncology Institute, The Serve Pickleball & Kitchen, Limitless Carts and Bee Organized Lake Norman to the Lakeside Living Family.

We are also excited to announce that Lakeside Living LKN has been awarded the Best of North Carolina Award for Marketing Services. Offering the ONLY community and town focused publications in Lake Norman with the largest direct-mail distribution in the region, affordable AI-integrated websites, social media and web display ads, listings services, and reputation management, we do all platforms for the lowest price in the area, helping our local small businesses build awareness and business in the Lake Norman region. Thank you to all the business owners and residents who voted for us!

Thank a teacher, love on your mothers, congratulate a graduate and remember those who served and died defending our great democracy.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Sláinte to March!

With one of the coldest and craziest winters behind us and sunshine and warmer temperatures back, we are excited to see everything go green with both budding plants and St. Patrick's Day around the corner. Helping us ushering in the spring is the Ch**ca family, which includes Amyann, Keith, Olivia & her Irish husband, Callum, and Amelia. Originally from Massachusetts, they live in Mooresville's Bayview neighborhood and in addition to the many other family activities, they are heavily immersed in Irish dance.

March is summer camp sign-up time! Savvy parents in LKN know to get your children signed up early for summer camps and we have curated a list of many that are offered in our area so you do not have to chase them all down. Speaking of summer programs, learn about Mooresville's role in the Charlotte Irish Children's Summer Program from Andy Poore of the Mooresville Public Library.

Also in this issue, meet some wonderful local business women as we celebrate Women's History month, learn how organization can help mental health with Annie Hanson of The Closet Niche, why renovations take longer than you think from Sarah Fiel of Home Theory, what to review annually in your estate plan by Eddie Tarantino of Tarantino Law, PLLC., and how to plan for a healthy home before construction begins with Bryan Lawson of Xhale Construction. Our sponsor spotlight is on Homewatch CareGivers, owned by our Mooresville neighbors, the Conroys. Welcome to our new community partners and sponsors: Wide Meadow Roofing, Integrity Concrete Coatings, Huntersville Veterinary Clinic, and Catawba Valley Neurofeedback and Counseling.

With nice weather, we have more events springing up around the area that can you read about in this issue and in our calendar of events, including Mooresville's Creek Week and the Annual Shamrock Festival in Davidson that benefits the nonprofit that supports seniors, Senior Community Connections. Learn more about this organization and how you can get involved in our Lakeside Giving feature.

Enjoy the weather, your families, and fun travels during the spring breaks coming up and be sure to reach out to us with any suggestions for neighbors we should feature, photos of your pets, recipes, or ideas for future issues.

Happy 10th Anniversary!!

Happy 10th Anniversary!!

It's our 10th Anniversary! In February of 2016, our first issue arrived to just 22 Cornelius neighborhoods. Today, we have 4 magazines in Lake Norman (Cornelius, Mooresville, Huntersville, and Denver) with Mooresville Lakeside Living debuting in 2019. Since our debut, we have showcased over one hundred local residents, groups and nonprofits, and hundreds of amazing students and veterans. We work hard to make sure we provide timely and relevant information about local resources, events, and fun places to go. We started our magazines to make this area of transplants feel more like a hometown.

Our local magazines now cover almost 400 miles of shoreline and reach hundreds of LKN communities and tens of thousands of residents each month by direct mail. Each year we have added value to our local businesses by growing our territory and adding services. We now offer full service, comprehensive, multi-platform marketing services that include our direct-mail print publications, websites, digital ads for social media and the web, listing services and reputation management. Our low cost marketing solutions help our local businesses to Get Seen, Get Found, and Get Chosen.

Our partnerships with our local businesses (some with us for 10 years now!) are the foundation of all we do and allow us to mail for FREE to our LKN communities each month. We are excited to welcome our new sponsors The Pool and Patio Company, Integrity Concrete Coatings, Wide Meadow Roofing, and Huntersville Veterinary Clinic to the Lakeside Living family. We look to partner with the best local companies with strong testimonials, impeccable reviews and top-notch customer service, only the best to put in front of our neighbors.

In this issue, we share the story of our magazines and the women behind the Lakeside Living scenes. Also, Mayor Bilodeau tackles everyone's favorite subject - traffic congestion; Tessa Rosenberg shares adventures in Davidson; Captain John Johnson prepares us for the annual Mid-Atlantic Boat Show; the Town of Cornelius Parks & Recreation explains their senior programming options, and we highlight what colleges most value in the admissions process.

Home preparations are a big theme this month with our local real estate expert, Nikki Calden REALTOR, sharing the 2026 market outlook for home buying and selling; Angie Becker of The Becker Agency supplying a comprehensive home safety checklist for spring; and Sarah Fiel of Home Theory outlining the reasons why renovations can take longer than you'd think.

Our call this month is for favorite local teachers. Please send Caroline ([email protected]) your teacher nominations for our May Issue Honoring Cornelius Teachers.
