My name is Brooke - obviously. 🙄
Let’s see.. I’ve been interested in photography since I was a teenager. I started being more serious about it in college. I took some photography classes, even a film one, at Liberty University while getting my bachelor’s degree in social work!
I’ve had a long brutal struggle with my mental health since I was about 18. Photography has always been my outlet. However, we moved to Maine from my hometown in Virginia. Which meant building trust with new clients all over again. Then I had my daughter, Evolette April - got extreme PPD & PPA. Took a long break from photography. Then we moved to our home we are in now, in the Lake Norman area of NC! I picked up photography a little bit. Then I had my son, Ezekiel Jon - got extreme PPD & PPA again. And honestly, I didn’t come out of that rut until maybe half a year ago. So I picked up my camera and have been pouring my passion into it!
I have a really bad memory. I feel like I lost out on a lot of moments with my kids because of my mental health. But the one thing I’m so sincerely grateful for, is the photos I have of them, of me and my family, whether they’re professionally done or just for fun! I hated being in front of the camera because I was depressed and couldn’t be genuinely happy and in the moment. I always look exhausted and not really with it. But I’m so glad I freaking did it anyways.
Thank you so much M. Images for always making me feel comfortable in front of the camera. I truly appreciate the friendship we’ve built outside of the photography community as well. You’ve helped me come out of my shell and have fun. I also love doing our headshot sessions swap twice a year!
