Last night’s Quad Cities Latino Cinema Series — Stand and Deliver was more than a movie. It was culture, community, and generations coming together.

The generations before us gave us stories, traditions, and memories that allow us to understand where we came from. Now it’s our responsibility to capture the moments happening today for the generations that come after us.

One day, they’ll see the lowriders, Carlos Jimenez being honored, a theater filled with our community, and our culture being proudly celebrated.

Our stories deserve to be remembered. Our traditions deserve to be carried forward. ❤️🎬📸

❤️🎬 QUAD CITIES LATINO CINEMA SERIES — PART 2

Last night reminded me exactly why I wanted to be part of creating this series.

Seeing the beautiful cars from Latin Persuasion Car Club lined up outside The Last Picture House, hearing the oldies playing in the lobby, and watching our community fill the theater made the entire night feel like US. 🚘🎶🇲🇽

Then came one of the most meaningful moments of the night.

The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce did an amazing job honoring Carlos Jimenez with the inaugural GANAS Award. ❤️

Hearing Carlos talk about why he has spent so many years pushing, challenging, educating, and believing in our young people was powerful.

But what made it even more special was looking around and seeing some of his former students there to support him.

That's impact.

Years later, the students you once encouraged are grown—and they're still showing up for the person who showed up for them.

For one night, a movie that has inspired generations became more than a movie. It became a reflection of our own stories, our educators, our culture, our struggles, and the people in our own community who continue to give our youth GANAS.

This is what the Quad Cities Latino Cinema Series is about. 🎬❤️
