The beautiful Indian Blanket flower. Legend has it that an old indian weaver renowned for his fine blankets knew he was nearing the end of his days. So one day, he decided he would weave his own exquisite blanket in which he wanted to be buried in. He began weaving a divine funerary blanket made with magnificent colors of reds and oranges, the most incredible blanket he had ever made. Soon after completing his work, his days came to an end and he was buried in the blanket he had made for himself. The Great Spirit, so moved by the blanket and its impressive colors, covered the weavers grave with a blanket of flowers pigmented in the same beautiful reds and oranges.
The Indian Blanket flower is also considered to be good luck by the Kiowa. The more you know...🚶🏻‍♂️

I’ve been keeping track of this hawk and it’s partner for a few weeks now. I’m pretty sure I’ve determined where most of their territory covers, where to find them and at about what time. Unfortunately, they know me now as well and see me coming from a good distance. Other than that, I’d say it’s paying off pretty good! I was going through pictures over the weekend and found one of this hawk at the same windmill (see previous posts) almost 3 years ago!🚶🏻‍♂️

The Cheyenne have a legend about how way back in the day buffalo used to eat man. That was until one day when the Magpie and Hawks decided to help man and would go head to head against Buffalo in a race. Long story short, the Hawk and the Magpie won the race and secured mans right to eat buffalo! True story look it up. In return man doesn’t eat the Magpie or Hawk but we do hold them in high regard and wear their feathers in respect. The more you know!🚶🏻‍♂️
