My backyard deck camera chair. I bought a Bog 360 DeathGrip swivel hunting chair. I removed the gun mount and installed a camera tripod mount and a 12-inch tripod extender. On top, I placed my large lens gimbal. It works pretty smooth. Makes tracking birds in motion really easy.

Crisp autumn air gives way to the warmth of the morning rays of the sun, and a lone red-bellied woodpecker calls out to the silence for all to hear. “Look at me! I’m here, and I’m thriving.”

I only see cedar waxwings in the spring and fall during migration here at my home in Central Minnesota. There were dozens in my trees for one day. I haven’t seen them since. They just dine and dash.

Suspended among the fading leaves, a cedar waxwing turns an ordinary crabapple into an acrobatic performance. Precariously dangling from tiny branches with one delicate foot wrapped around a twig and its body folded into an almost impossible curve, the waxwing works at the last sweetness of the season, its sleek black mask and flashes of brilliant color standing sharply against the soft autumn light. 🍁
