🚨 BREAKING NEWS | DOLLY PARTON DIES AT 80 💔

The world has lost one of the most recognizable voices — and perhaps one of the biggest hearts — in American entertainment.

Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. Her death was announced Tuesday, August 25, by her family.

Born into a large family in rural Tennessee, Dolly went from humble beginnings to become a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist whose career stretched more than six decades.

🎵 AN INCREDIBLE CAREER

• Sold more than 100 million records worldwide
• Wrote classics including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You”
• Earned 11 Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award
• Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
• Became a successful actress with films including 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias
• Built Dollywood into one of Tennessee's best-known attractions and became an accomplished businesswoman

❤️ BUT HER HEART FOR PEOPLE MAY BE HER GREATEST LEGACY.

Dolly never forgot where she came from.

In 1995, she launched Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, inspired in part by her father, who could not read or write. The program grew from serving children in her home county in Tennessee into an international effort that has provided hundreds of millions of books to children.

She also:

❤️ Donated $1 million toward COVID-19 research that helped support development of the Moderna vaccine.

❤️ Helped families who lost their homes during the devastating 2016 Great Smoky Mountains wildfires.

❤️ Supported scholarships and educational programs for children in her hometown.

❤️ Donated to hospitals and medical research.

❤️ Used the success she achieved to continually give back to others.

Dolly Parton became bigger than country music.

For generations of people, she represented humor, kindness, determination and the idea that you could become incredibly successful without forgetting where you came from.

Dolly Parton was 80 years old.

Rest in peace to an American icon. ❤️
