I posted this the other day and deleted it after I hit post, but I really think it needs to be said, because I know I can't be the only one.
Not once, not TWICE, but THREEEEE times now, I've had people reach out to ME wanting to book a photography session. They requested SPECIFIC dates, and one even went as far as putting down a deposit!
And here's the kicker, some of these people are business owners themselves!
So silly me, I think, "Well, they're business owners too, surely they understand how this works!"
So I set those dates aside, because that's what you do when someone tells you they want to book.
Then I reach out to nail down a time and finalize everything and suddenly, P**F! GHOSTED. I mean, COME ONNNNN!
Listen, if you change your mind, find someone else, decide it's not in your budget, or whatever the reason may be, THAT IS OKAY! I promise you aren't going to hurt my feelings!
But you know what DOES bother me? The complete lack of communication and respect for my time.
While I'm holding that date for you, someone else could be missing out on booking it. And once that date passes, I can't exactly get it back! And coming from other small business owners?! THAT'S the part that really gets me. You KNOW what it's like to run a business. You KNOW how valuable time is!
it literally takes TWO SECONDS to say, "Hey, sweet cheeks, we've decided not to move forward."
Apparently, I need to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt just because they own a business.
Moral of the story? Please respect small businesses and the people behind them. Our time matters too! Okay, I'm done.
