There’s something special about the big kids loving on their mama. We finally had some partly cloudy skies in the middle of the rainiest August I think we’ve had in years. Nothing quite beats a family session on your property, where memories are made as the kids grow and 4H projects are being raised.

If you plan to visit the Hocking Hills.. book the session.
Brianna reached out to me ahead of their trip and I helped her figure out a location. She wanted some waterfalls and luckily, we had storms with some heavy downpours the night before. It was extremely humid but we made the best of it and these little girls were troopers - we hiked about 3 miles. I always recommend early mornings if possible! Beat the crowd if you can and if you want multiple views, be ready to get your steps in. Thank you for booking with me on your camping trip, Campos fam!

A moment for this scenic driveway and backyard, lined with flowers. I always love capturing Brandy & Robbie’s beautiful family! I will say it over and over, let the kids be kids and you will get some of the best truly candid photos. When I say most of their gallery is unposed, I mean I gave them a prompt and let the rest organically happen. It works most of the time!

We risked the weather, had a tiny sprinkle of rain in the middle of the session followed by the most gorgeous, golden hour glow. I had a such a hard time choosing some favorites! Late summer is always dreamy with flowers in full bloom and I prefer it over any fall day (might be a hot take, I know).

Kayley and her family traded boat life near Lake Erie for some hiking in the Hocking Hills. I always recommend a session while you visit! We decided to go off the beaten path a little bit and I’m glad we did. They got some family photos while not having to battle the busy trails and they got some sight seeing in on the way out (luckily they didn’t mind the little drive). Hope you all enjoyed your stay!

I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy’s family while they enjoyed some well spent time together in the Hocking Hills. They rented a beautiful lodge and had me come out to preserve these memories for generations to come. Luckily, the weather cooperated and we shared some laughs!

What you don’t see is Kylie Dotson, Lawrence Dotson and I dripping in sweat, chasing these little girls through the fields and around the ponds in Midwest humidity. I think it was worth it! If you’ve booked with me, you know I would rather let kids do their thing than try to make them pose. It’s a short season of life and to me, it’s not worth tears if we can avoid them. Sometimes I get the best images with a documentary style approach with kids (and let’s be honest, sometimes husbands too.) Genuine smiles and real laughs are what I aim for!

Jenn asked for a documentary style approach at the park and I thought “say less”. Kids don’t want to be posed. They want to run around freely and that’s exactly what we let Rowan do. We played and chased him around the park before the heat of the day. Now we’ll have to take him back to the same park once he’s older and compare his growth!
