Some beauty is loud.

It stops you in your tracks. It glows. It shines. It begs to be noticed.

But some beauty is quieter.

It hides in the cracks. In the layers. In the worn places. In the parts most people would walk right past without ever seeing.

Mama Rae’s Portrait Advice

You do not need perfect poses to create meaningful portraits.

Some of the best photos happen in those little in-between moments. The laugh that happens before everyone is ready. The way your child grabs your hand. The look between two people who forgot the camera was even there.

Those are the moments that feel real.

Of course, we will still make time for the beautiful posed portraits too, but I never want your session to feel like an hour of being told to stand perfectly still and smile.

The leaves begin to change their hue,
From summer green to gold anew.
The evening light turns soft and low,
And autumn starts to steal the show.

The air grows crisp, the days grow small,
A little reminder to capture it all.
The laughter, the love, the way you are,
Before winter doesn't feel so far.

Ohio gives us this beautiful view,
But only for a moment before winter comes through.
So gather your family, your love, your crew,
And make some memories while the leaves are new.

Before the branches are bare and the cold winds blow,
Before Ohio is blanketed in snow,

16 years ago today, I lost my Grandma Bee.

Not long after, I had a dream I have never forgotten. A white wolf came to me, then became my grandmother. She told me I would see her again and that this was not our final goodbye.

Her name was Lee, but when I was little I could not say it right, so she became Grandma Bee.

Today I honor her, her memory, and the love that never really left.
