I live for taking the picture because OH MY GOSH I NEED TO REMEMBER THIS MOMENT. I believe in letting them be young and wild and free. I think family photos should be FUN and RELAXED and GENUINE. No, I will not photoshop your skin into flawless perfection because the wrinkles tell your story. I started photographing babies + families in 2010, because I had a decent camera and I once took an intro

to photography class in college. And naturally, that makes a photographer (do jokes translate on About Me pages? I had friends who trusted me with their special family moments, and with each session I grew in my craft. The more I practiced the more I loved it. There is an art and a science to photography, and I love the things I learn every time I pick up a camera. A few years into my venture, I was able to quit my day job and build a successful wedding photography business, based out of Richmond, Virginia. After some wonderful time on the east coast and a stretch of time in west Texas, I’m now back to where it all started with an intro to photography class – in Arkansas! I am excited to be introducing this business to the Natural State! A few extra things you about me: I am married to Jake and we have 2 girls and a Goldendoodle named Obu. I’m a major foodie, a cheap wine connoisseur, and always looking for a new adventure. Dark chocolate is the way to my heart, along with folky singer-songwriter Spotify stations. Once at a wedding I tripped backward over my camera bag and landed on my butt. You definitely want to know that. I am excited to learn about you!

If you have kids who are shy, or maybe a little nervous about the whole Playful Portraits thing, here are a few ways we try to make them feel comfortable:

(1) Let them bring props or toys. If they want to bring an umbrella, the answer is yes 😂 Sometimes they will choose to bring items that make NO SENSE to you, but that’s okay! Because this part isn’t about you, it’s about THEM.

(2) If they want one of their adults to sit with them, that’s PERFECTLY FINE. You are their safe person, and we want them to feel safe!!! Don’t worry, you can be cropped out of a photo 💕

(3) We try to make it feel more like play. If they forget they are there to have their picture taken, then the session was a great SUCCESS!

Playful Portraits is having its first ever FEBRUARY pop-up, and this time we are headed to Lake Nixon! 🥳

Lake Nixon is a scenic recreational space, minutes from the heart of Little Rock, best known for its summer day camp. It is a safe, nurturing, and joyful place for ALL kids to spend their summers.🌳

Like so many others, my family LOVES Lake Nixon. It’s January and my girls are already talking about summer camp! It is such a privilege to be hosted by this organization.

The best part? We’re partnering with Lake Nixon to provide camp sponsorships for kids this summer!! Every tip + donation along with 50% of all booking fees are going straight to making camp more accessible for more families this year.
