It’s hard to believe we’re just ONE WEEK away from the Arkansas State Fair!

There’s something special about this time of year. After months of planning and looking forward to it, I’m getting excited to grab my cameras and head back to the fairgrounds for another year behind the lens.

This will be my 19th year as the Arkansas State Fair photographer, and I still look forward to it every year!

Each year I challenge myself to find fresh ideas, new perspectives, and creative ways to capture the energy, traditions, and unforgettable moments that make the fair so special. I’m especially excited to put some new gear to work this year and see what new opportunities it brings!

Now, if we could just order up some cooler weather, we’ll be in business!

What's your favorite part of the State Fair?

There are some people whose impact on a community is impossible to measure—and Susie Everett is one of them.

A wife, mom, grandmother, business owner and longtime Saline County community leader, Susie has spent decades building a business, supporting local organizations and, most importantly, serving the people around her.

As a 25-year breast cancer survivor, her story is also one of strength, faith and perseverance.

I was honored to create these new headshots for Susie, incorporating a modern lighting pattern and a little pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thank you, Susie, for allowing me to capture not just a portrait, but a little bit of the strength and warmth that you bring to so many people.

New headshot drop! It's been a busy few weeks and I wanted to share a session that stood out! This is Mykenzie! She's a local actress and singer who recently made the move to the Big Apple. A couple of weeks ago she reached out saying she'd be back in town for a production and that she wanted some new images for her portfolio. Mission accomplished! She killed it! I think I did okay too!

Yesterday I got to photograph a radio control car race! I have been hooked on these little guys since I was a kid. I always wanted to shoot a big race for a magazine or something but the racing was never very big here in Arkansas. It’s growing fast now! It was a joy to spend the afternoon with little cars and cameras! For scale, the sprint car in these shots is about a foot long, weighs around 5lbs and goes around the track in under 5 seconds! Now to cull through and edit about 3,500 images!

Last night, as I was driving home from Southern Arkansas, I took a few minutes pull over, take a breath, and just enjoy the sunset.

It’s so easy to move through the week without ever really stopping. Sometimes we just need to slow down, look around, and appreciate what’s right in front of us.

As the saying goes, “the best camera is the one you have with you.”

So take a moment today. Stop. Breathe. Look up. And if you see something beautiful, take the picture. More importantly, take the moment.

Happy Friday, everyone. I hope you find a little time to slow down and enjoy the view.
