Years ago, my son and I would have these “adventure dates” around Little Rock. I took this double exposure on film during one of our explorations together, wandering the historic streets downtown. He loved the flowering vines; I loved his eye for wonder. Images serve as visual bookmarks calling us to reflect back on our memories together. Now I look back on this picture and see a little boy blooming, growing, in the great Spring of his life. What powerful art! This image is now one of my favorites of him (and I have quite a few)!! I’m so grateful. Both for the medium of photography to evoke and reinforce life’s sweetest remembrances, and so much more for the boy who stars in so many of my own life’s highlights.

I know the algorithm won’t love this mashup of four single-image frames, but as spring approaches, you need to see this. Take the pictures of your kids as the seasons change. One of my favorite things to do is snap photos of my kids on film at the turn of the seasons to mark the passage of time (and to rip my heart out scrolling later, reminiscing about how each year has brought a bittersweet mix of more joyful experiences and more distance from those golden memories of years past 😭).
There are just a few with my precious E boy and I can’t get over him growing up so fast.

One day you’re just holding your baby girl and the next you’re taking her to the American Girl doll store for the first time. It’s the blink of an eye, my mother friends, and yet the longest adventure of our lives. Don’t miss it, and don’t wish the long days shorter.

Self portraits on film using a timer and a tripod. I was feeling exhausted and didn’t have the creative drive that I hoped I’d have when my baby was just a few weeks old. But I knew that this time was sacred, and I wanted to capture it in the most intimate way possible - just the two of us. They’ve turned out to be some of my most cherished photographs.

One of my favorite parts of my job is when the entire session comes full circle and I’m bringing beautiful artwork to my clients! This week I’ve been dropping off lovely heirloom prints and newborn albums, all with the cutest little helper tagging along 😉
