Pregnancy dating is kind of strange.

When your doctor tells you that you're “4 weeks pregnant,” your baby may have only existed for about two weeks.

That's because pregnancy is medically dated from the first day of your last menstrual period—not from the actual moment of conception.

So technically, those first couple of “pregnancy weeks” happened before conception even occurred.

Pregnancy math. Nobody said it had to make sense. 😂

That little “conehead” some babies have after birth?

It can actually be a sign of how hard they worked to get here.

During a vaginal birth, the bones of a newborn's skull can temporarily shift and mold as they move through the birth canal.

Those soft spots and flexible skull bones aren't an accident. They're part of the incredible design that helps babies be born.

And honestly? There's something pretty beautiful about looking at that little head and realizing…

Your baby was drinking their own p*e before they were born. 😂

Okay, maybe don't put that in the baby book.

But it's actually part of a pretty incredible system. Later in pregnancy, your baby swallows amniotic fluid, their kidneys produce urine, and that fluid is continually recycled and replaced.

So yes… your baby spent months swimming in a fluid that was partly made by them.

The human body is WILD.

And then one day, they go from that tiny underwater world to being placed directly on your chest. ❤️
