With the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having here in Lincoln, it’s making me think of spring and new life!

I took this photo in my backyard last June. This little fledgling was hanging out on a Taylor Juniper branch, just high enough to be out of reach of my small dogs so he(or she?) was left alone. The bird was kind enough to let me get close enough for this photo. After taking, I edited it in both color and black and white; I’m not quite sure which one I like better! Please, let me know your thoughts!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a bird photograph, so let’s change that. 🤣

I thought I’d kick this year off with something completely different. I have several photos of cats in my portfolio, but really none of dogs. Which is ironic, because I’m a dog person and in fact have two dogs that I affectionately refer to as my “little old men.” So when I saw the “dogs in wrapping paper” trend making the rounds online during the holidays; I knew I had to give it a try. And in true elder millennial fashion; I’m late to the trend. Without further ado; here are Blu (Chihuahua mix, age 9) and Taco (Boston Terrier, age 11) making their debut on my page. Maybe not anywhere close to fine art, but a fun experiment nonetheless. Enjoy the good boys.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and is ending their year with those they love!

I wanted to share that one of my photographs was selected for inclusion in the 42nd Five State Photography Exhibition. Held in Hays, KS, this juried, competitive exhibition is open to photographers living in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado. They received 648 entries and accepted 150 photographs into the show. If you’re in the area, I encourage you to stop by the Hays Art Council to see the show in person. If you’re not local; check out the online gallery at -

I’m out at the UniPlace Makers Market today until 2pm. I’m on St. Paul Street near 47th. Come out and enjoy the gorgeous fall weather and shop the wonderful vendors(there’s over 60 here!)! It’s never too early to start your holiday shopping.

I had such an amazing time in Nebraska City yesterday. I’ve never spent any time in their downtown area and it’s really such a wonderful small town. I loved talking with my fellow artists and everyone who stopped by. I’m honored to have received their Best in Open Class award. Thank you Nebraska City Creative District and all their sponsors who made the event and awards possible! I’d love to come back next year.
