A rainy morning was the perfect backdrop for this cozy in-home newborn session. 🤍

One of my favorite things about photographing newborn sessions at home is just how easy I can make the entire experience for a new mom. With professional hair and makeup coming straight to her doorstep and a beautiful dress from my client wardrobe ready for her to slip into, everything was taken care of so this family could simply relax and enjoy the morning at home.

We took our time, followed baby Ava's lead, and captured a mix of newborn, family, and everyday moments around their home. And of course, we had to include their doggy, too—because pets are family and absolutely deserve a spot in the photos!

I also photographed their maternity session in their home, which made coming back for their newborn session even more special. I love how personal in-home sessions can be. Instead of simply providing a backdrop for your photographs, your home is part of your family’s story.

For new parents who love the idea of beautiful newborn portraits without having to pack everyone up and leave the house, an in-home session is such a wonderful option. I am currently booking November and December due dates with only more spot left for November🤍

Sometimes the photographs you almost didn’t take become the ones that mean the most. 🤍

When Nash's sweet mama reached out about a newborn session a week after he was born, she initially envisioned photographs of just him. I gently encouraged both mom and dad to step in front of the camera too—because one day, no photographs will mean more to their little boy than the ones that show just how loved he was from the very beginning, safe in their arms. I am so glad they did!

On the morning of their session, my wonderful stylist Monica with pampered mom with hair and makeup before she slipped into a beautiful dress from my client wardrobe. But what stood out was something I noticed the very first time we connected—her joyful and warm personality, which came through so naturally in the photographs.

This is why connecting with my families before a session matters so much to me. By the time we step in front of the camera, we’re no longer strangers—and I truly believe that comfort makes all the difference in creating photographs that feel like you.

And someday, sweet little Nash will get to see exactly what I saw that day: two parents completely in love with him. 🤍 I’m so happy to have this beautiful family as part of the First Year Collective and already looking forward to the next time I get to have them in front of my camera!

A few days away at the Maternity & Newborn Summit in Dallas reminded me of something that’s easy to forget when you’re busy running a business: there’s always more to learn. No matter how many babies I’ve photographed or how many years I’ve been behind the camera, I never want to stop growing. Every speaker, every conversation, and every new perspective left me feeling inspired to serve my families even better.

There are babies who smile from the moment they walk into the studio... and then there are babies like sweet Nora. 🤍
Like many babies at this age, Nora was feeling a little unsure around someone new, and for a while, it seemed like every time I looked her way, those little tears were ready to appear. But one of the things I've learned over the years is that patience always wins.

By slowing down, following her lead, giving her time to warm up, and making the session all about her comfort, we created a gallery that completely blew her parents away. Looking through the final images, you'd never know how unsure she felt when we started.

And then... I couldn't resist sneaking in a few timeless heirloom portraits. The kind that never go out of style. The kind your children and grandchildren will treasure decades from now. Now I'm wondering... should I make these heirloom portraits a standard part of every milestone session? I'd love to hear what you think. 🤍

Nine months of smiles, curiosity, and the sweetest little personality. 💙

It feels like just yesterday we were capturing Aelrik's newborn session, and now here he is sitting tall, flashing those adorable grins, and showing us just how much he's grown. As a First Year Collective member, I've had the joy of documenting both his newborn and sitter session so far and I can't wait to capture the next chapter of his first year.

I love sitter sessions—babies are full of expression, on the move, and their personalities really begin to shine.

One of my favorite parts of this journey is seeing his first-year gallery wall come together. With each session, we add another frame that tells a piece of his story and preserves this fleeting season of childhood. Now we have just one more chapter left before his first year is complete... his birthday session this September! 🎂 I already know it's going to be a special one.

For now, let's take a moment to appreciate those chubby cheeks, bright eyes, and all the sweetness that makes this stage so unforgettable. ✨

For this sweet family, Dad hand-stenciled every wall in the nursery himself😍 When I arrived for their session, there were still traces of paint on his hands—a small detail that might be forgotten with time, but one that speaks volumes about the love already waiting for this little one.

“Congratulations on your adorable new reason to be awake at 3 a.m.” — it’s funny but it's oh so true… and also because no one really prepares you for just how tired love can make you. So if you’re reading this in the quiet of the night, eyes heavy, body exhausted, wondering how you’re going to do this again tomorrow… here’s the truth: You already are.

Every time you get up when no one is watching, every time you soothe, feed, rock, and whisper through your exhaustion—you are showing up in the most powerful way. Not perfectly. Not effortlessly. But faithfully. This season is relentless, yes… but it’s also fleeting.

One day, those tiny cries in the dark will be replaced with sleepy “I love yous.” One day, your arms won’t ache from holding them all night—but your heart might ache just a little because they don’t need you the same way anymore.
So for now, in the middle of the night, in the middle of the mess and the magic:

Some stories just keep unfolding in the most beautiful, unexpected ways 🤍

A few weeks ago, I reached out to this beautiful mama to schedule Zach’s one-year session—the final chapter of their First Year Collective. That’s when she shared the sweetest surprise… they’re expecting again, with a due date right around his first birthday.

We quickly made space for a maternity session at Morven Park in Leesburg, soaking in this fleeting season before their family grows once more. And of course, their newborn session is already on the calendar for May.

Watching this family grow—from one baby to now three—has been such an honor. These are the stories that deserve to be held onto forever.
I truly can’t wait to meet Robinson baby boy #3🤍
