in just about every edit, i do a black and white edit. at first, it was just for a change or because it looked kind of cool but overtime i’ve learned, what I like.
first, i often look for a photo that is not brightly lit, especially from natural light. rather, stadium lights hitting from the side, give black-and-white that high contrast that i love. i also try to choose one of the sharper photos since black-and-white will often make those details stand out. color photos are great, and that’s the majority of what i do but black-and-white makes you focus fully on the subject without the “distraction” of colors. the way i do it is a start with a high contrast preset in LR, i make sure my blacks and black and my whites are white (just my preference, though some people use a darker shade of gray or even a brown or tint). i make the whole photo almost completely black and then slowly raise the whites and the highlights until those details come out. I try to leave just enough shadows to outline the subject and just enough white to not be washed out. in this particular, just a small amount of color was added back in to give it a little more focus.

Hi, I’m Jeff. For the past 3 years I’ve been obsessed with making athletes look as elite and competitive on camera as they feel on the field or court.

I started Life to the Full Creative because I love the challenge of freezing the action and creating an image that stands out. I believed sports photography should be more than action shots and team photos. Athletes work too hard to be remembered by a sideline phone photo. I want to provide cinematic images that capture who they are as competitors.

I help student athletes, families, and local teams get the kind of visual content that feels like movie stills, not yearbook photos.

Beyond the camera, I’m a husband, father and a follower of Jesus. I have the privilege of running a full-time youth ministry in Harrisburg, as well as helping with the youth ministry at my church.

If you’re a sports family in the Central PA and you’ve realized that your student athlete won’t compete forever, I want to help you document this season in their life.
