The Maker City is excited to announce, “We Are The Maker City: 10 Years Doing What We Love,” a milestone exhibition hosted at RED Gallery in Knoxville’s Historic Old City.

It features artists, makers, and creative professionals who have been integral to this movement as members of the Mayor’s Maker Council.

From sculptors to photographers, this show spotlights not only their artistry but also their profound impact on Knoxville’s identity, economy, and culture.

This is a visual celebration of past and present Mayor’s Maker Council members, curated by Chris McAdoo and The Maker City.

Opening Reception:
First Friday, September 5, 5-9pm

Almost Six Years.

That’s how long I’ve called my studio home. It’s where I’ve laughed with clients, watched folks see themselves in a whole new way, and created work that still makes me smile when I think about it. It's where I have welcomed others to come and create their own art and expand themselves.

Today, I’m sharing something bittersweet... I’m saying goodbye to my physical studio space.

This isn't the end of Javon Renee Portraits. Not even close.

It’s a shift. It’s me reading the times we’re in and moving smarter. And listen… I’m not new to movement. I’ve made magic in rented studios, Airbnbs, people’s homes, offices, and every kind of unique spot you can think of. My gift isn’t tied to a building... it’s tied to the people in front of my camera. That’s not changing.

To everyone who’s ever walked through those doors, trusted me with your story, or cheered me on, Thank You. That space was special because you made it special, and I’m carrying that same energy into whatever’s next.

Here’s to new chapters, new spaces, and the same dedication to creating portraits that remind you just how worth seeing you are.
