One whole year for Austėja + Jogirdas 🤍
This wedding will forever hold such a special place in my heart. Austėja + Jogirdas got married at Camp Neringa in Brattleboro, Vermont, the Lithuanian heritage camp I grew up attending every summer. Jogirdas was there around the same time as me (just a few years younger!), so getting to come back to a place that holds so many of my own childhood memories and photograph their wedding felt incredibly full circle.
Their day was filled with sooo many beautiful Lithuanian traditions and thoughtful details. Everyone dressed in linen, Austėja handmade a traditional juosta for each guest and her sister made homemade krupnikas as favors.
Guests gathered at the cabins before processing together through the woods to the little outdoor chapel for the ceremony 🌿
Later, Austėja + Jogirdas performed Rezginėlė, a traditional Lithuanian wedding dance, alongside their Canadian Lithuanian folk dance group. Their parents welcomed them with a traditional toast of dark rye bread, salt and a celebratory drink before everyone gathered for a Lithuanian dinner, Šakotis and plenty more toasts, songs and games led by an accordion… which really gets us Lithuanians going 😂🇱🇹
Everyone stayed together in the camp cabins and danced late into the night 💃🏼💃🏼
Such a beautiful celebration of love, family, culture and tradition in a place that means so much to so many of us.
Happy first anniversary Austėja + Jogirdas!
