The Libertyville Fire Department responded at 11:00 am on Sunday morning for a report of an overturned kayak on the Des Plaines River near the Oak Spring Road Bridge. An individual on a separate kayak called 911 and stated he was heading South on the Des Plaines River when he encountered an overturned kayak. The kayak was partially submerged in the river stuck on branches in the water. There was no sign of anyone else around. The Libertyville Fire Department responded to investigate. A swift water rescue response was initiated shortly after by Command. It was unknown if there was anybody in the water. An extensive search of the river and surrounding areas was conducted by swift water technicians with nothing found. Searches were conducted for approximately three hours until terminated by Command.
