Come photograph with me this Fall!
I’m hosting two exclusive fall photography workshops this year, and they are going to be EPIC.

I’ve put a ton of thought into these days. I have very specific locations, timing, light, and shooting opportunities planned from morning through sunset, and I’m keeping each workshop to just seven photographers so I can actually work with everyone individually.

This is unlike anything I’ve hosted before.
We’re not just going out, taking some photos, and calling it a day. You’ll get the full experience before, during, and after the workshop, and when it’s all finished, you’re even going to walk away with one of your own photographs professionally printed.

September 26 + October 3.

The Five Ponds Wilderness… Different from what I normally post, but necessary.
The purpose of this trip was very specific. For years, I had been trying to understand what I personally considered the most remote place in the Adirondacks. Not simply the largest wilderness, or the point farthest from pavement, but a place genuinely separated from ordinary human access by distance, trails, private land, terrain, and how rarely people actually go there.

My research eventually led me to a specific coordinate deep inside the Five Ponds Wilderness, well beyond the trail.
From the route we chose, that point was roughly 18.6 miles one way on foot from where we started, with the final miles requiring completely off-trail travel through the forest. Based on the public documentation I was able to find, fewer than 20 people have been documented entering this specific interior corridor over the past 25 years.
So Ethan, Toby and I went to see it for ourselves.
Over three days we traveled more than 36 miles, including roughly eight miles off trail. We dealt with brutal humidity, mosquitoes, deer flies, wetlands and water crossings, and went about 54 hours without seeing another person.
What surprised me most wasn’t how difficult the forest was, but how incredible it was. Huge yellow birch and hemlock, old-growth forest that has stood for centuries, fern-covered ground, forgotten traces of human travel, and Sliding Falls hidden deep in the interior.
There was no summit or giant overlook waiting for us.
The entire point was simply to go somewhere extraordinarily few people ever do, and experience one of the quietest, wildest corners of the Adirondacks for ourselves.
After wanting to make this trip happen for years, I’m glad I finally did.

Hey guys, I haven’t posted much from the Adirondacks in a while, but I wanted to share a little bit from my past two weeks up there.

A big purpose of this trip was having the privilege of teaching photography for Northwood School students during their LEAP week. We spent the week traveling to different places around the Adirondacks, talking through how to see light, how to compose a scene, how to use the camera with intention, and how to look for both the big landscape and the smaller abstract details that are easy to miss.

It was honestly such a blessing to work with them. I loved seeing them get excited about being outside, exploring new places, and starting to notice the landscape in a different way. There is something really special about watching students walk into the wilderness with a camera and begin to see that photography is not just about taking a picture of something pretty, but about learning how to see.

I wanted to share a few photos from the week that stood out to me personally. Some are simple, some are quiet, but they all feel connected to what made this trip meaningful.
