This past weekend was my first time visiting the Adirondacks... & I have no excuse as to why it took me this long to explore here 😅A couple months ago I decided I’d chase the foliage for my first visit. Mama 🌎 definitely did not disappoint and I feel so lucky we caught peak foliage in such a beautiful place. ADK - I will be back! 🧡

I finally got around to developing and scanning my film from some of my previous travels. It was simultaneously exciting and disappointing - and I like to think that most film shooters know the feeling I’m talking about.
Since I haven’t had access to develop my B&W film myself, I mailed it out to a lab. Unfortunately a good portion of my film came back with some weird splotching and various marks from poor development. Not to mention, my Mamiya C33 has definitely seen better days & so the light leak / skipped exposures tend to be part of its charm now a days. I’m still happy with this captured moment, and all of the character the film brought to it. Making the best of what I have, always 🖤

To add onto my previous post, here is another shot from my first trip out west in 2015. When I first saw this negative years ago, I didn’t think much of it. I didn’t like the footprints or the people in the shot. So here we are, nearly 6 years later and my eyes don’t see the same. It brings me joy going through my archives and finding images and moments that help me remember my experiences (and it helps me justify my terrible photo hoarding habit 😅)
Do you ever return to old work and find new images?

Rewind: I’m taking y’all back with me to my first trip out west. I spent 2 weeks on an epic road trip from Connecticut to Colorado with my best friend! We spent a few days backpacking the Rocky Mountains. I was a student in college, and pretty new to film. This was one of the first medium format images I ever made, and I made it using a Pentax camera I borrowed from my professor at the time. In hindsight, I realize how much this entire experience shaped who I am today - and it makes me feel like I’ve been on the right track ever since, even if I lose sight of that sometimes 🖤

This is one of the few shots I have from this lake where a little blue sky peaked through the clouds.
It was extremely cloudy and cold when I visited, so it was nice to get an idea of how colorful this place could be in better climates.
In other news - I am waiting for the return of a big load of undeveloped film! I have been shooting film for years and slacking in development/processing it 😅 but soon enough I’ll have film from Greece, Italy, & the American Southwest and I’m so excited to finally see them! I’m hoping I’ll have some good stuff to share with you all in the next weeks... so..
stay tuned 🙏💙
