Streamliners at Steamtown

Delaware-Lackawanna PA4 no. 190 and Delaware, Lackawanna & Western F3A 664 are seen on adjacent tracks near Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton PA. The former is posed for display as it as a busy weekend while Union Pacific 4014 was visiting, and the latter is returning to the Steamtown Yard after running Iron Horse Society excursions to Moscow. Faces of the Hoboken Division

Three styles of NJ Transit and Metro-North power are seen idling at Hoboken Terminal, awaiting their turns to depart for points west. Metro-North Railroad 4903 is a GP40FH-2M built by EMD between 1966 and 1970, NJ Transit 4120 is a F40PH-2CAT built by EMD in 1981, and NJ Transit 4023 is a PL42AC built by Alstom between 2005 and 2006. Elizabeth in Ealing

An Elizabeth Line led by Class 345 no. 345034 (Bombardier, 2015-2019) is seen arriving at Ealing Broadway Station on its way to central London and beyond. In the background are London Underground trains, as this station is also a terminus for the Central and District Lines. Taken two years ago today, on September 1, 2024.

Going, Going, Gone!

Metro-North Railroad P32AC-DM no. 226 is seen leading Hudson Line train 837 towards Oscawana Island as it races north to Poughkeepsie on June 20, 2025. As of today, a bit over a year later, the 34-year-old locomotive is listed for sale on an online auction. As more of the SC42-DM Chargers enter service, more and more of these Genesis locomotives will be sidelined. Though sad to see, selling the equipment suggests they will see further use elsewhere!

Two years ago today: Piccadilly Puller

London Underground battery-electric locomotive 31 leads engineering train 647 into Kings Cross St Pancras Station on the Piccadilly Line, heading back to Ruislip Depot from a work site at Arnos Grove. The locomotive is one of 13 built for the Underground by Metro-Cammell in 1964-5, and is now one of the oldest locomotives in service on the Tube. August 27, 2024.
