Arkansas might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think ā€œelopementā€ā€¦ but honestly? That’s what makes it magic ✨

No crowds fighting for the same overlook. No waiting in line for your moment. Just quiet trails, waterfall backdrops, golden light through the trees, and space to actually be present with each other.

If you’re dreaming about eloping here, a few things to keep in mind:

– The best locations are often the ones you won’t find all over Instagram (trust me on this)
– Weekdays = even more privacy + a slower, more intentional experience
– You don’t need a full-day hike to get epic views—Arkansas has hidden gems everywhere
– Build a day that feels like you… not just a timeline of photos

Eloping isn’t about going somewhere ā€œpopularā€ā€”it’s about going somewhere that lets your story breathe.

And Arkansas? It’s one of the most overlooked places to do exactly that.šŸ¤

Your elopement dress can make a BIG difference in your experiencešŸ¤

And no - I’m not saying you can’t wear the dramatic gown! I LOVE a big skirt, long train, and all the tulle. Your dress doesn’t have to be lightweight or ā€œpracticalā€ to be perfect for your elopement.

What matters most is how comfortable you feel moving in it - and how willing you are to move in it.

There’s a hugeeee difference between a bride who feels comfortable enough to run, twirl, dance, climb, get picked up, and let the wind take her dress… and one who spends the day pulling it up, stepping on it, or worrying about adjusting it / getting it dirty.

Let me clarify: neither is wrong! But they do create a very different experience and photos.

If you want those wind-blown, emotive, romantic, adventurous images, make sure you choose a dress you feel confident enough to move and adventure in.

Your dress isn’t just something you’ll be photographed in. You’re going to live your elopement day in it!šŸ¤

Let me tell ya a fun fact about Jake & Ffiona’s elopement day in the Virginia Shenandoah mountains: I had never shot at this location until their elopement week. And honestly? That’s where trust matters most.

While I often photograph in places I know like the back of my hand, some locations are brand new—and that never means you’re getting anything less than an intentional, fully prepared experience. Before I ever step foot somewhere new, I’ve already deep-dived into maps, lighting patterns, trail access, backup plans, and all the little details most people wouldn’t even think about. So when I arrive a few days before your elopement to scout everything out on foot, I’m not guessing—I’m executing.

From there, it’s just about exploring. Finding the hidden overlooks, the quiet corners, the in-between moments that make your day feel like you. BEFORE I take you with me. šŸ˜‰

And this day? It was everything. The views, the emotion, the way it all unfolded so seamlessly… truly one of the best days ever.

This is why having an elopement photographer who also guides and plans your experience matters. No stress. No scrambling. No ā€œwhat do we do next?ā€

Just full presence, full joy, and a day that feels effortless from start to finish. Your elopement is safe here!!šŸ¤

If I were to elope tomorrow, here’s 3 non-negotiable that I’d include into my timeline (all of which Maggie & David did!):

1. Ceremony at a private & beautiful place (Duh!). I’d prefer an intimate ceremony location to read my vows over the most epic location, but that’s up to each individual couple.
2. Photos & exploring at 2-3 other epic locations. Because why not?
3. Some sort of activity that means something to you and your love. Think writing vows, reading love letters, a morning cup of coffee, or a beach bonfire to end the night.

Lastly, I’d make sure to book a package that gives us ample enough time to enjoy each moment of the day, take in the gravity of the moment, and let creativity spiral.

The Burkholders šŸ¤

This micro-wedding will always hit a little deeper for me… because it’s my oldest sister marrying the love of her life.

After their engagement, Natasha and Luke found out the Army would be taking Luke across the country for nearly a year. Instead of waiting, they chose what mattered most—they got married in a quiet field in Missouri, surrounded by the people who love them.

It was one of those perfect March days—clear skies, happy tears, and the kind of love you can feel in your chest. I’ll never forget the pure, overwhelming joy on my sister’s face as she became one with her person.

And one moment I’ll hold onto forever—my dad, in the middle of his fight with cancer, putting on his sharpest tux and walking her down the aisle.

Natasha and Luke’s wedding was a reminder that you don’t need much—just your love, a few camp chairs for grandma, and the most beautiful venue of all: God’s creation.
