How many years have you already given to worrying about your body?

Really.. think about it..

The swimsuit you didn’t wear because you hated your stomach. The photo you immediately deleted because you didn’t like your arms. The outfit you loved but decided you couldn’t “pull off.”

How many times have you said, “once I lose the weight…” before letting yourself do the thing you already wanted to do?

And somehow, years pass. You look back at photos of the body you were SO critical of ten or fifteen years ago and think, damn… I looked good..

But you didn’t think that then.. and that, that is the part we want you to sit with.

Because if you’re not careful, you’ll be 60 looking back at photos of yourself at 40 wondering why the hell you couldn’t see HER either.

At some point you have to decide how many more years of your life you’re willing to hand over to this.

We’re not telling you that turning 40 magically makes every insecurity disappear. We talk to enough women to know that’s not how this works.

We’re asking something different. Wear the damn swimsuit. Get in the photo. Buy the outfit now instead of for the body you’re trying to have six months from now.

You have way too much life left to spend another decade standing on the sidelines because you didn’t like your arms.

That’s part of why 40/40 matters so much to us.

We want to photograph the woman who decided she’s done waiting to enjoy her life.

If you’re ready to be her, comment “40” below 🤍

As we’ve been reading through your 40/40 applications and talking with some of you, we keep hanging up the phone thinking…. THIS… THIS is exactly why we’re doing this project.

One woman we recently spoke with is 50 and in the middle of figuring out who she is again.

Her kids have moved out, she lost her mom just a couple months ago, and through all of that she realized how much of her identity had been wrapped up in being a caregiver.

For years, people needed her. There was always someone to take care of, somewhere she needed to be, a role she knew how to fill.

And then suddenly… she was faced with a question she hadn’t had the space to ask in a really long time:

Who am I when I’m not taking care of everyone else?

Figuring that out at 50 can make you wonder if you’re somehow behind. Like you should know exactly who you are by now.

But as we talked, the conversation shifted from everything that had changed… to everything that’s still ahead of her.

And THAT has stuck with us.

Because the more women we speak to, the more we’re realizing how many of you are in your own version of that in between space.

Life has changed. You’ve changed. The roles that defined you might not fit quite the same anymore, and now you get to decide what this next chapter actually looks like.

There isn’t a set age you’re supposed to have yourself completely figured out. At 50, you absolutely can be figuring out who you are NOW.

And getting to photograph that woman? The one who is figuring it all out day by day? That’s exactly why we’re doing 40/40 🤍

If this season sounds a little like yours, comment “40” below. We’d love to hear your story.

THIS is the energy we want you leaving your 40/40 session with.

A woman recently told us she’s reached the point in her life where she just wants to say, “F**k it. This is me.”

And honestly? THAT is 40/40 energy.

Because how many years have you spent trying to be the version of yourself that made sense to everyone else?

Trying to fit the mold. Be agreeable. Make the “right” choices. Dress appropriately. Act your age. Tone yourself down. Or maybe care a little too much about what somebody else might think.

And then eventually you reach this beautiful point where you realize…

Wait. Why the hell am I still doing that? 😂

There is something so good about reaching a season where you can own your s**t.

Your choices. Your body. Your story. Even your mistakes, definitely your opinions, and alwayyyssss your curves. The weird things you love. The things you’ve changed your mind about. And the parts of yourself you used to make smaller so other people would be more comfortable.

All of it.

40/40 isn’t about stepping in front of our camera and becoming some bold, confident alter ego for the day.

We want you to bring YOU.

The whiskey drinking, cigar smoking, middle finger to the camera you. If that’s who you are!

The soft, feminine, romantic version if that’s who you are.

Whether you’re the loud one, the quiet one, the goofy one. The woman who has absolutely no idea what her “version” is yet. We just want the real one.

And when you walk back out of our studio, we hope you carry a little more of that “F**k it. This is me.” energy with you. Not just for the photos..

For the season of life you’re walking into next 🖤

If you’re over 40 and ready to own exactly who you are in this chapter, comment “40” below and we’ll send you the details on how to apply.

This one is for the woman who keeps seeing us talk about 40/40 and thinking…

“I love this idea. I’m just not sure I’m the kind of woman they’re looking for.”

Hi. Yes. You. 😂🤍

You don’t need an incredible transformation story. You don’t need to have finally reached some magical level of confidence. And you definitely don’t need to look a certain way.

Maybe you’ve spent the last couple of decades raising kids and suddenly have a little more room to figure out who you are outside of motherhood.

Or maybe your body looks completely different than it did when you were younger and you’re learning how to love THIS one.

Maybe you’re newly single, happily married, starting over, becoming a grandmother, building a career, changing careers, or finally doing some of the things you’ve spent years saying you’d do “one day.”

Or maybe life is actually pretty damn good right now and you simply want to celebrate that.

That woman? That is who 40/40 is for.

We’re not looking for 40 women with perfect stories or perfect confidence. We want 40 REAL women, each bringing decades of life with them, who are willing to step in front of our camera and say, “This is who I am today.”

You can be nervous. You can have parts of your body you’re still learning to appreciate. And you can show up having absolutely no clue what to do with your hands 😂

We’ve got you.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines wondering whether we mean you when we talk about 40/40…

We do 🤍

Comment 40 below and we’ll send you the details on how to apply!

Why are we doing 40/40? Simple…

Somewhere along the way, women start disappearing from the photos.

And we don’t just mean literally.

We mean the photos that are JUST for them. The ones where they aren’t someone’s mom, wife, grandmother, employee, caretaker, or the person standing behind the camera making sure everyone else’s life gets documented.

The older we get, the easier it becomes to believe that being photographed, dressing up, feeling sexy, taking up space, or doing something completely for ourselves belongs to an earlier season of life.

And we have a problem with that over here 😂

Because the women walking through our doors over 40 have lived some LIFE.

They’ve raised babies, changed careers, fallen in love, had their hearts broken, built families, started over, watched their bodies change, figured out who they are and then figured it out all over again.

There is so much more to photograph now than there was twenty years ago.

THAT is why we created 40/40.

We don’t want to make 40 women look younger. We don’t want to photograph them while pretending the years haven’t happened.

We want the years.

We want the curves that weren’t there before. The laugh lines from decades of actually laughing. The confidence that took some time to learn, and the woman who’s still maybe figuring that part out.

We want to show what it looks like when women stop treating aging like something they’re supposed to apologize for and start letting themselves be fully seen in the season they’re actually in.

And when this project is finished, we want someone to flip through that magazine or walk through our gallery and see woman after woman who looks like she has lived.

Not airbrushed out of her story…. but right smack in the middle of it.

Maybe she’ll recognize herself in one of them.

Maybe a younger woman will see what’s ahead and realize there’s a hell of a lot to look forward to.

And maybe we can make getting older feel a little less like disappearing and a whole lot more like arriving 🤍

If you’re over 40 and reading this thinking, okay… maybe this is for me, comment “40” below and we’ll send you all the details! It’s your time.

The 40/40 Project is here and it’s becoming SO much bigger than 40 photoshoots.

We wanted to photograph 40 women over 40 because we kept hearing versions of the same hesitation. Their bodies had changed. They hadn’t been professionally photographed in years. They’d spent so much of their lives documenting everyone else. Or somewhere along the way, they’d decided that being photographed like this belonged to a younger version of themselves.

We call BS on that friends 😂✋

So we’re bringing 40 women into our studio and giving each of them the space to celebrate who she has become… not who she used to be, and definitely not some younger version of herself she’s supposed to be chasing.

And when the final woman has been photographed, we don’t want these stories to just live in our camera roll or on Instagram.

We’re creating a 40/40 magazine featuring the women who participated, and early next year, we’ll be bringing the photographs into the real world with printed works showcased gallery-style at one of our signature events.

THAT is the part we’re ridiculously excited about.

Imagine walking into a room and seeing women in this season of life taking up the walls. Their faces. Their bodies. Their personalities. Their stories.

Exactly as they are today.

If you’re over 40 and something about this has been tugging at you, comment “40” below or feel free to just dm us to apply!

Maybe one of those 40 stories is supposed to be yours 🤍

There was something really special about watching her give herself permission to take up space in front of the camera.

Because like so many women, especially after becoming a mom, she’d spent years documenting everyone else. Life changed, her body changed, she changed… and somewhere in all of those years and decades, she had never really done something like this just for herself.

So this session became exactly that.

A space where there was no judgment. No expectation to look like the woman she was twenty years ago. No trying to hide the curves that came with living a whole lot of life.

She got to celebrate the woman she is right now.

And I think there’s something really freeing about reaching a point where you can look at everything your body has carried you through and say, this is me. All of me. And I’m going to celebrate her.

That’s what we got to watch happen in front of our camera.

She embraced her curves, let herself have FUN with it, and gave us the privilege of documenting a version of her that deserves to exist in photographs too.

And then she saw them… 🥹

I could tell you how she felt, but honestly… just keep swiping. Her reaction at the end says it so much better than I ever could. 🤍
